Hi all,

After creating an instance in Openstack I found that only the private IP configuration is present inside the Instance. Is there a way through which we can get Public IP configuration as an interface and our floating IP would be used as a primary network interface in the Instance through.

Please let me know if it is possible!!!

In Windows server 2003 I am not able to install VirtIO drivers during the installation process, and after the installation the OS is not taking the drivers. @Bernd Bausch

Hi all,

I was creating QCOW2 images for different windows version's so that those can be launched on Openstack as an Instance. I use VirtIO drivers and cloudbase init script's for the Image creation process through Virtualbox but when I started for Windows server 2003 the same was not happening. I was able to run sysprep on the machine but wasn't able to install VirtIO drivers on it.

Is there a way to do it on windows XP or Server 2003 ? If yes than please tell me the way to do that or any other driver that can work on windows server 2003 other than VirtIO.

Any type of help for the Image creation would be really appreciated.

Hi @gaurav_garg ,

  1. As we have two IP address range so, Launch the Instance in private IP and than associate a floating IP (public IP) on to the Instance.

  2. Allow ICMP rules in the security group (both ingress and egress)along with other rules that you would require.

But what does Octavia do ? as the name implies load balancer, Dosen't that mean that if there are few Instances that are running and one of them requires high CPU utilization, So this service can balance the load between them to get optimum results.

Thankyou so much @Bernd Bausch , This one has solved few of my confusions.

2018-03-31 03:15:19 -0500 问了问题 Is it possible to have Compute resources load balancing in Openstack ?

Hi All,

As I move on to Exploring Openstack, Some of the things pointed out my mind.

What if the network load on one of the Instances became much higher than other Instances running, which would result in network slowdown for other instances?

What if the Processing load (Compute resources) demand increases in any if the running instances that can effect other systems performance?

There are many more things that can happen if look at one's use case more seriously. So I was wondering that is there a service, a functionality or something like that present in Openstack that can help me to counter these probelms. Likewise if there is something where we can limit the resources utilisation of an instance upto some extent.

I have read something about Octavia but will that service be of any help to counter these problems?

Please correct me if I am going in a wrong direction and any help would be really appreciated.

thanks !!

Hi I got the Answer myself @Eduardo Gonzalez , it's not exactly what I expected but it worked for me.

I created a VPC on AWS and have established a VPN connection to my Controller which made me enable to access Openstack dashboard and Instances through my AWS Instances from that VPC.

Thanks for your help!!!

Hi all,

Suppose I am having few Instances running on my Openstack and I want that I can see and manage these Instances on AWS console on "ec2" dashboard. Is this way of working possible in Openstack and if yes than what should be the approach to do this ?
