I wouldn't recommend deleting a queue directly. Instead you can stop rabbitmq, reset it and re-start it. You can use these commands:
 $ sudo rabbitmqctl stop_app
 $ sudo rabbitmqctl reset
 $ sudo rabbitmqctl restart
Should be done before re-install of opens

2015-11-18 04:22:53 -0500 评论回答 Why do two cinder-scheduler_fanout queues have no consumer?

To ckeck the type of a queue you can use rabbitmq management plugin to do so: look for Features in the Queues panel and if it is set to D that means that the queue is Durable. There are many features: AD: auto-delete, D: durable, I: Internal, Combination of all of the previous features.

2015-11-18 04:12:26 -0500 问了问题 Why so many connections in RabbitMQ ?

Hi everyone!
Using the rabbitmq management plugin, I am able to see that Openstack is creating so many connections (almost the same number of channels). Based on the rabbitmq docs, a single connection can be used to create multiple channels. So why Openstack doesn't use this feature to minimize resources consumption? Does this design have anything to do with the modular architecture of OS?

Hi everyone!
I'm looking for the list of all configuration flags. I found this link https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Rabbi... and it mentions the class flags.py which is not found in Openstack guithub. It clearly has been substituted by another module, any suggestions where to find it?

2015-09-28 05:14:33 -0500 回答问题 How do I listen to the event bus (RabbitMQ) for cloud events (Nova, Neutron, Keystone, etc)?

Hi!
RabbitMQ offers a cool plugin named management_plugin to manage your rabbitmq server: https://www.rabbitmq.com/management.html. It offers also a plugin called Firehouse that enables tracing of messages: http://www.rabbitmq.com/firehose.html. The two plugins combined may satisfy your need for supervising AMQP flows.

2015-09-28 05:06:32 -0500 回答问题 Tracking a particular keyword from response in rabbitmq

Hi. Each time the callback is executed (a message is received) you need to verify weather the body contains the targeted sting - "event_type": "compute.instance.create.end" -. With a simple if statement you can exit the loop and display the result.

2015-09-28 04:58:01 -0500 回答问题 Why do two cinder-scheduler_fanout queues have no consumer?

Hi. There are several points that I need to clarify:

  • Queues (like exchanges) are created by openstack services to consume messages from the exchanges (that are used to publish messages)
  • A Service do not publish messages directly into a queue (although it's possible but not recommended). It has to create an exchange where it can publish messages. Then, messages are routed based on the exchange type and, in to case of a topic exchange, the routing key.

So, instead of looking for the service that publishes messages, it would be better to look for the service that created these queues. In your case, it's probably Cinder. It tries to connect to all the rabbit nodes that you specified in the config file by creating queues in each rabbitmq server.

These queues may also be created in a previous installation but not deleted (which happens if a queue is set to Durable and rabbitmq is not reinstalled).

Thanks for the feedback v1k0d3n! this is very instructive. RDO seems a good start.

Thanks for the feedback. That statement comes from a "sad" :D experience with devstack (you can find my question about cells deployment). So I thought it might be the time to start using an openstack deployment. And by the way, I can't agree more about the ./rejoin-stack.sh usefulness !

Hi everyone!
After doing some search about openstack distribution I found many (Landskape, Mirantis, RDO) but I don't know with which I can start "safely". I am already familiar with devstack (all-in-one and multi-node-lab). Now I look for diving into pure openstack deplyment. Can someone advise me with the "best" distribution/way to deploy openstack in a physical/virtual machine?.
Thanks in advance.

2015-08-28 05:14:06 -0500 问了问题 Is it possible to use a single Neutron service to manage networks across multiple compute cells?

Hi everyone!
I'm wondering if it is possible to deploy a single Neutron service in the Cells configuration and use it to create networks, ports, etc. across different compute cells. If it is possible, could it be possible then to create VPN tunnels between instances located in different compute cells?
Thank you!!

2015-08-21 03:29:35 -0500 回答问题 Nova Cells: Question about Networking and Storage

Hi!
In the beginning I would like to say that I share the same questions: about cells, and about the lack of resources on this matter. Probably the "only" community member that gives details about its deployment of cells is CERN (others like Rackspace or NeCTAR do not give much).

According to the openstack architecture guide provided here, CERN has used for:

  • Control: nova-api (that is deployed on api cell as well as compute cells) to launch VMs in local compute nodes
  • Networking: nova-network for networking (flat network) and a pre-registered MAC+IP list associated with each compute node
  • Storage: MySQL database server in each cell in an active/passive configuration with a NetApp for local storage and HA

I still have the same question as you do about neutron. It seems like no one has deployed cells using neutron yet.

2015-08-18 07:51:32 -0500 问了问题 Why a child cell is created by default?

Hi everyone!
I installed devstack (single node configuration) and I tried to create an API cell by enabling the nova-cell service and configuring the nova.conf as in here (the Openstack kilo documentation on cells).

[DEFAULT]
compute_api_class=nova.compute.cells_api.ComputeCellsAPI

[cells]
cell_type=api
name=api
enabled=True

After stacking, I only get a child cell that is created by default (I did not specify anything about a child cell). Can someone explain why the configuration in nova.conf is not taken into account and why a compute cell is created instead? Thank you!

2015-08-12 04:15:39 -0500 修改回答 [ERROR] /devstack/tools/install_pip.sh:58 Download of get-pip.py failed

The problem was the proxy. I setup the proxy for git and the error disappears!

$ export http_proxy=http://proxy.ip.ad.ress:portnumber/
$ export https_proxy=http://proxy.ip.ad.ress:portnumber/
$ git config --global http.proxy $http_proxy
$ git config --global https.proxy $http_proxy

So basically it's a proxy problem, therefore you need also to make sure that the proxy is setup system wide (if you are using a desktop version of ubuntu) or by editing "/etc/environment" (if you are using a server version of ubuntu).
