2015-02-26 19:24:10 -0600 asked a question nova network-create is taking random vlan and bridge
            I am using only Nova network. I have not implemented Neutron. I have created 3 networks and each time the VLAN value and bridge are taken randomly by nova:

        nova network-create cert1 --fixed-range-v4 10.5.0.0/24 --vlan 105 --bridge=br1 --bridge-interface eth2.105 --dns1 10.66.8.2 --dns2 10.66.8.3 --multi-host T
        nova network-create corp8 --fixed-range-v4 10.66.8.0/22 --vlan 208 --bridge=br12 --bridge-interface eth2.208 --dns1 10.66.8.2 --dns2 10.66.8.3 --multi-host T
        nova network-create corp12 --fixed-range-v4 10.66.12.0/22 --vlan 212 --bridge br0 --bridge-interface eth2.212 --dns1 10.66.8.2 --dns2 10.66.8.3 --multi-host T

            When I see the details from nova database it can be see that vlan and bridge values are incorrect:
        mysql> select label,vlan,cidr,netmask,bridge,bridge_interface,gateway,dns1,dns2 from networks;
+--------+------+---------------+---------------+--------+------------------+------------+-----------+-----------+
| label  | vlan | cidr          | netmask       | bridge | bridge_interface | gateway    | dns1      | dns2      |
+--------+------+---------------+---------------+--------+------------------+------------+-----------+-----------+
| cert1  |  105 | 10.5.0.0/24   | 255.255.255.0 | br105  | eth2.105         | 10.5.0.1   | 10.66.8.2 | 10.66.8.3 |
| corp8  |  209 | 10.66.8.0/22  | 255.255.252.0 | br209  | eth2.208         | 10.66.8.1  | 10.66.8.2 | 10.66.8.3 |
| corp12 |  214 | 10.66.12.0/22 | 255.255.252.0 | br214  | eth2.212         | 10.66.12.1 | 10.66.8.2 | 10.66.8.3 |

2015-02-24 16:26:30 -0600 answered a question How to import existing volumes in Cinder
I already have volumes on Nimble storage. These volumes are mounted on other VMs. I want to see the same volumes insider Cinder. I do not want to re-create this volumes. After I create the instances to replace those non-openstack VMs I want to attached the same volumes to the instances created.
2015-02-24 15:29:53 -0600 asked a question Instance is not taking correct DNS servers
I am trying to create an instance as:
nova boot --flavor SL6.1-1-4-20 --image sl61-4-20 --nic net-id=c3e1ab70-a8ed-4f08-bc35-5f3b120f291f,v4-fixed-ip=10.5.0.140 --user-data ./sl61-4-20.sh --availability-zone nova os-61-test.sd.my-domain.com

My network is:
mysql> use nova
Reading table information for completion of table and column names
You can turn off this feature to get a quicker startup with -A

Database changed
mysql> select label,vlan,cidr,netmask,bridge,bridge_interface,gateway,dns1,dns2 from networks where label='L01';
+-------+------+-------------+---------------+--------+------------------+----------+-----------+-----------+
| label | vlan | cidr        | netmask       | bridge | bridge_interface | gateway  | dns1      | dns2      |
+-------+------+-------------+---------------+--------+------------------+----------+-----------+-----------+
| L01   |  V01 | 10.5.0.0/24 | 255.255.255.0 | br106  | eth2.105         | 10.5.0.1 | 10.66.8.2 | 10.66.8.3 |
+-------+------+-------------+---------------+--------+------------------+----------+-----------+-----------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

On my controller host I have in /etc/nova/nova.conf :
dns_server = 10.66.8.2,10.66.8.3
use_network_dns_servers = true
dhcp_domain = sd.my-domain.com

Instance is also created with correct IP. However after instance is created I see /etc/resolve.conf as:
;generated by /sbin/dhclient-script
search novalocal
nameserver 10.5.0.3

Where as it should be:
search sd.my-domain.com
nameserver 10.66.8.2
nameserver 10.66.8.3

Due to incorrect DNS resolution shell script I want to run as user data is not running.

What am I missing?

2015-02-20 17:44:23 -0600 asked a question How to import existing volumes in Cinder
I have Nimble NAS box. There are multiple volumes created on that and they are already attached to KVM virtual machines. I want to import these volumes in Cinder. I want to migrate those virtual machines to which they are connected, to openstack instances. I cannot recreate those volumes as they contain data. Please help.
2015-02-20 17:38:24 -0600 answered a question Nova compute node with multiple interface
Thanks Poonam. I have moved VLANs from two of my Ethernet to single. Remaining 1 was connected to NAS (iSCSI) which actually I have to take care by Cinder. However I have pre-existing volumes and I have asked a separate question for that. This question can be considered closed.

2015-02-17 18:39:20 -0600 commented answer Nova compute node with multiple interface

Thanks indeed. I have total 4 VLAN interface on my compute node, eth0 to eth3. I have 2 VLANs on eth0, 3 VLANs on eth1, 5 VLANs on eth2 and 2 VLANs on eth3. Each instance will have eth{0-2} may be 1 or 2 or 3 virtual NIC. Can I define multiple vlan_interface in /etc/nova/nova.conf file?

Thanks for your reply, this indeed helped me a lot. I have one more question:

I have total 4 VLAN interface on my compute node, eth0 to eth3. I have 2 VLANs on eth0, 3 VLANs on eth1, 5 VLANs on eth2 and 2 VLANs on eth3. Each instance will have eth{0-2} may be 1 or 2 or 3 virtual NIC. Can I define multiple vlan_interface in /etc/nova/nova.conf file? My all VLANs are tagged with numbers like 105, 208, 212, 300, 301, 305, 306 etc.

2015-02-12 23:25:46 -0600 asked a question Nova compute node with multiple interface

My scenarios is like multinic flat manager show at flat manager

I am using CentOS6.6 on controller and compute nodes, there are multiple compute nodes. Each of My compute node has multiple bridges connected to VLANs. Each VM I will create in compute node will have either 1 or 2 NIC depending on the requirement. These NICs will have their static IP and both should be connected to different bridge of compute node. How can I achieve this? For example:

Computenode1 has br0 - VLAN 10.5.0.0/24, br1 - VLAN 172.19.4.0/24, br2 - VLAN - 10.66.12.0/22, br3 - VLAN - 38.102.145.0/24, br4 - 38.102.164/24

1st NIC of each VM will be connected to either of br0 / br1 / br2. 2nd NIC of VM (if it has) will be connected to either of br3 / br4.

How can I configure this using nova network.
