2015-03-01 13:55:46 -0500 asked a question How do I get a GUI from an OpenStack instance?

I am new to OpenStack and I have trouble understanding how cloud instances and connections to instances work.

Right now, I have devstack installed on a computer. I have created a Fedora instance using the OpenStack dashboard. I am able to ssh into the instance using the terminal and the instance's key pair.

I am pretty sure it is possible to access terminal through the ssh connection and run commands. However, I want to know if I can connect to the instance from a completely separate computer and actually see the Fedora GUI, apps, etc and have the ability to actually use the OS normally.

I apologize if this question is trivial, but it's something I haven't understood since I began using OpenStack.

2015-01-01 17:50:06 -0500 asked a question How do I enable HTTPS for OpenStack Horizon?

I am running devstack and I wanted to enable HTTPS for the horizon dashboard. I realize that I must edit a "" file but I cannot find it in the devstack installation folder or in /etc (there is no openstack-dashboard file) Can anyone point me to where I can find it? If not, what can I do to create a settings file from scratch?

Thanks, OpenStack_User

Wow, I can't believe it worked. I tried that prior to asking this question, and nothing came up. I think it was probably an extra slash at the end. Anyway, thanks!

2014-12-24 19:58:59 -0500 asked a question How do I remotely access Horizon Dashboard?

I recently installed DevStack on an old laptop running Ubuntu Server and Desktop (desktop installed on top of server). I have been able to access the Horizon Dashboard on my laptop, but I want to access it from a remote computer (running Windows but can run Linux if needed as VM). My question is, how do I access the dashboard from this external computer?

Thanks, OpenStack_User

2014-12-15 06:51:22 -0500 asked a question What OpenStack release does DevStack use?

I have installed devstack and I want to know what OpenStack release it is using (i.e. Icehouse, Juno.. etc) Whenever I use nova-manage version, I get 2015.1 but that isn't a valid version.

I also want to know what version of keystone devstack uses (v2 or v3?).

Thanks, OpenStack_User

2014-12-15 06:51:21 -0500 asked a question What OpenStack release is 2015.1?

I used devstack to install OpenStack and I am trying to find out what release of OpenStack it used for installation. I have tried using nova-manage version, but I get "2015.1" and as far as I know, the latest release of OpenStack is Juno, 2014.2. Can anyone help me find what release I'm using?

P.S. If anyone knows how to find one's keystone version, please tell me. I tried keystone-manage version, but it was invalid.
