2016-02-04 09:31:39 -0500 commented answer Horizon not connecting to correct keystone address to retrieve users

So how to tell Horzon to look at the right endpoints?

2016-02-04 05:47:22 -0500 asked a question changing endpoints

hi all

We deployed with Fuel version 7.0 this added the endpoints using a DNS name (HTTPS)

we then changed the endpoint url everything seemed to work ok but Horizon will not display anything the errors that we get are

Unable to retrieve volume/instance attachment information

similar to that, the odd thing

I added the old dns name to the hosts file just in case that would help

I seem to be able to run all the required commands

keystone endpoint-list nova service-list neutron

but the dashboard seems inherently broken

could this be cause the certificate and the endpoint url no longer match, any other ideas

thanks

hi all

2016-01-29 04:33:06 -0500 asked a question Running OS behind a firewall

hi

I have a question

my client wants to sit openstack behind a firewall therefore the address that you hit for horizon and API access will be an internet route able address they are then natted in to a private range that is actually the openstack public range

the issue that i can see here is that the endpoints will return a private address is it possible just to change the endpoints to look at the external addresses?

thanks

2015-03-02 11:17:32 -0500 asked a question error when attempting to mark drive type as encrypted

Hi All

i am trying to set up drive encryption for lvm

so far we have followed

Initial configuration

Configuration changes need to be made to any nodes running the cinder-volume or nova-compute services.

Update cinder-volume servers:

Edit the /etc/cinder/cinder.conf file and add or update the value of the option fixed_key in the [keymgr] section:

[keymgr]

Fixed key returned by key manager, specified in hex (string

value)

fixed_key = 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 Restart cinder-volume.

Update nova-compute servers:

Edit the /etc/nova/nova.conf file and add or update the value of the option fixed_key in the [keymgr] section (add a keymgr section as shown if needed):

[keymgr]

Fixed key returned by key manager, specified in hex (string

value)

fixed_key = 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 Restart nova-compute.

when we run this cinder encryption-type-create --cipher aes-xts-plain64 --key_size 256 --control_location front-end lvm nova.volume.encryptors.luks.LuksEncryptor

we get the error

ERROR: Policy doesn't allow volume_extension:volume_type_encryption to be performed. (HTTP 403) (Request-ID: req-2fc9f4cd-c334-4540-9db6-545e693466ae)

Can someone point us in the correct direction to enable drive encryption

thanks

Hi All

I have a user who has broekn his FStab and his VM will not boot it just hangs at

Booting from hard disk......

There is also this in the action log

2015-02-20 13:19:17,038 - __init__.py[WARNING]: Unhandled non-multipart userdata ''
The disk drive for /mnt/vbd1 is not ready yet or not present.
Continue to wait, or Press S to skip mounting or M for manual recovery

does anyone know how to break into this to change the fstab as I believe the boot process is moving past the Press S option before we see it in the console
