2019-01-08 04:20:52 -0600 asked a question how to provide custom UUID for creating resources in heat template

Hi,

I have a requirement where I need to provide custom UUID for resources as part of heat template.

I tried with reservation_id but in vain.

sample:
  type: OS::Nova::Server
  properties:
    name:
      str_replace:
        template: $vm_name-VM
        params:
            $vm_name: "Test"
    reservation_id: '84358883-6920-4750-a3e8-8c394f0a9a19'
    image: "CentOS-7-x86_64-GenericCloud.qcow2"
    flavor: "m1.small"
    networks:
      - port: { get_resource: privateport }

this Property reservation_id is not working & from the description of this property it says "A UUID for the set of servers being requested."

Can anyone shed somelight on how to provide custom UUID for resource with type OS::Nova::Server can be provided.

thanks, Sudharsan

Also in my case there are 2 nic. Nic1 is connected to internet. Nic2 is local IP and have configured that as controller IP. Once neutron is up, my bridge interface is assigned with the local IP.is there a way I can bind the bridge interface and eth0(which is connected to internet)

Yes. Have setup Provider network alone. Directly attached the instance to Provider network. Please be noted Im using virtualbox. 1st interface is NAT, 2nd interface is hostonly adapter.

Hi All,

Issue - Unable to access internet from openstack spawned instance. I'm able to access internet from my controller node but not from spawned VM.

I have installed Openstack Mitaka. OVS is being replaced with Linux bridge as per neutron installation guide. On the setup, I have created Provider Network & attached the instance to it.

Virtual box is installed in a blade server [Both blade server and virtual box VM is installed with ubuntu 14.04]

When I checked existance of KVM in the server, it returned hadmin@ubuntu:~$ kvm-ok INFO: /dev/kvm exists KVM acceleration can be used

But when I checked the existance of KVM in virtual box, it returned root@vm1:/var/log/libvirt/qemu# kvm-ok INFO: Your CPU does not support KVM extensions KVM acceleration can NOT be used root@vm1:/var/log/libvirt/qemu#

Do i need to configure anythin in virtual box to have KVM support which is available in blade server?

Have installed following packages in virtual box VM. qemu-kvm libvirt-bin ubuntu-vm-builder bridge-utils

2016-04-28 03:54:32 -0600 asked a question Conflicts between keystone and apache2

All,

If someone can help me out to understand the conflicts between keystone and apache2. Both keystone & apache2 uses same ports 35357 & 5000.

When I execute token issue command;

openstack --os-auth-url http://controller:35357/v3  --os-project-domain-id default --os-user-domain-id default  --os-project-name admin --os-username admin --os-auth-type password token issue

I get this error:

An unexpected error prevented the server from fulfilling your request. (HTTP 500) (Request-ID: req-ca782978-cc44-41b4-ab4a-ef082bac2d77)

Some has posted in the same forum to stop the apache2 & start keystone alone. Tried even that but in vain.

root@COE-Controller:/var/log/keystone# !net
netstat -nltp | grep 5000
tcp6       0      0 :::5000                 :::*                    LISTEN      49418/apache2
root@COE-Controller:/var/log/keystone# service apache2 stop
 * Stopping web server apache2                                                                                                                                   *
root@COE-Controller:/var/log/keystone# !net
netstat -nltp | grep 5000
root@COE-Controller:/var/log/keystone# service keystone start
keystone start/running, process 49678
root@COE-Controller:/var/log/keystone# !ne
netstat -nltp | grep 5000
tcp        0      0 0.0.0.0:5000            0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      49678/python
root@COE-Controller:/var/log/keystone# netstat -nltp | grep 35357

root@COE-Controller:/var/log/keystone#

Now only keystone is running & not apache2. When I execute the same command,

root@COE-Controller:/home/infics# openstack --os-auth-url http://controller:35357/v3 --os-project-domain-id default --os-user-domain-id default --os-project-name admin --os-username admin --os-auth-type password token issue
