2014-06-06 23:31:50 -0500 answered a question Internationalization for debug logs

I got the answer from IRC. There is inconsistency in the cinder developer documentation @ http://docs.openstack.org/developer/c... about use of log translation with debug-level log (where debug log is given as an example for translation). which violates the rules of logging standards @ https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Loggi... . So cinder dev-doc should be ported to logging standard (log translation)

2014-06-06 05:15:43 -0500 asked a question Internationalization for debug logs

Would like to know what is the significance of enabling internationalization for debug logging! "Internationalization" section of cinder developer documentation specifies "debug log" as an example while on the other hand it says "user-facing strings" in log messages. So is it kind of documentation bug or there is convention to enable internationalization for log messages irrespective of log-level.

2014-05-20 00:58:49 -0500 answered a question Getting 500 internal server error while accessing horizon dashboard in ubuntu icehouse

OK... Now able to login with following workaround: I have manually changed the owner of file /var/lib/openstack-dashboard/secret_key from root to horizon Somewhere during the steup horizon might have tried to set the wrong owner (root) for this file.

2014-05-20 00:15:59 -0500 asked a question Getting 500 internal server error while accessing horizon dashboard in ubuntu icehouse

Hi, While accessing horizon dashboard(ubuntu:icehouse) I am getting 500 internal server error. apache2 log file gives following error:

File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/horizon/utils/secret_key.py", line 65, in generate_or_read_from_file
     with open(key_file, 'r') as f:
IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/lib/openstack-dashboard/secret_key'
[error] [client 10.0.0.70] File does not exist: /var/www/favicon.ico

I have gone through similar posts for 500 internal error but none seems to related to this scenario (i.e. permission denied). Any clue!

2014-05-16 00:44:16 -0500 commented answer Message broker service should be installed and configured only on the controller node or on all the nodes?

Thanks for the reply. It was helpful. I have finished the initial setup of environment and going for configuring various services... Probably by the end of setting up and configuring major services I would get more clarity...

2014-05-15 07:04:52 -0500 asked a question Message broker service should be installed and configured only on the controller node or on all the nodes?

As per installation guide (Chapter: 2. Basic environment configuration, section: Messaging Server), message broker service typically runs on the controller node. So message broker service should be installed and configured only on the controller node or on all the nodes?

2014-04-17 02:20:57 -0500 asked a question "Authors" file missing in the cinder repository to allow merging in trunk

Hi,

As per Cinder developer documentation under section "Contributing Your Work" following requirement is mentioned: "Add your name and email address to the Authors file, and also to the .mailmap file if you use multiple email addresses. Your contributions can not be merged into trunk unless you are listed in the Authors file."

However there is no "Authors" file in the repository. Where this file is located?
