2016-07-11 02:02:13 -0600 answered a question Is there any way to get the IP assigned to a VM from a particular subnet and embed it in Heat orchestration template(given that the network has multiple subnets and we are creating one port only for all subnets)?

I don't really understand what you are trying to do..but if you are just concerned how to attach a floating ip. You may want to check my template. I used a combination of str_replace and get_attr.

type: "OS::Nova::Server"
  name: { get_param: master }
  key_name: { get_param: key_name }
  image: { get_param: image }
    - port: { get_resource: mysql_master_port1 }
  flavor: { get_param: flavor }
  admin_user: { get_param: admin_user }
  admin_pass: { get_param: admin_pass }
  user_data_format: RAW
        __vm_name__: { get_param: master }
        ipaddy: { get_attr: [ mysql_master_floating_ip, floating_ip_address ] }
      template: |

      type: OS::Neutron::Port
          network_id: { get_param: data_net_id }
            - subnet_id: { get_param: data_subnet_id }

      type: OS::Neutron::FloatingIP
           floating_network_id: { get_param: public_net_id }
           port_id: { get_resource: mysql_master_port1 }

Hope that helps. Cheers :)

2015-02-11 06:17:56 -0600 commented answer How can I change instance's fixed ip

Do not forget to update .98.58, the instance_uuid value should be NULL After doing your table update restart your node again. If you have done it correctly as I told you, you should now have something "-A nova-compute-local -d - -j nova-compute-inst-9" in your iptables.

2015-02-11 06:13:31 -0600 commented answer How can I change instance's fixed ip

From what I am seeing there is no rule for 98.59 that is why there is no ingress/egress to you instance. All of these IPtables values come from mysql. You have to update your mysql to reflect the IP. Get the your instance uuid, then login to mysql. Use nova database and update fixed_ips table.

2015-02-11 03:00:11 -0600 answered a question How to power on or start all VMs of HP Helion, after restart the server or workstation.

Looks like the backup and restore script is no longer in the 1.4 version of Helion OpenStack Community. I read the script and inside there is a flag there for exporting and importing the seed VM. You may try to use --export-seed for backup and --import-seed for restoring.

Hope that helps!

2015-02-11 02:21:02 -0600 answered a question HP Helion Openstack Community Edition - Baremetal host node has bridge problems after reboot. Why ? and how to fix ?

If you are using Virtual installation then that is a normal behavior because virtual installation does not persist across reboots, you will just have to start the Virtual installation process again.

2015-02-11 02:10:42 -0600 commented answer How can I change instance's fixed ip

Make sure that there was no child process when you killed iptables and dnsmasq. To be sure you can just try to restart the entire node.

2015-02-11 01:49:52 -0600 answered a question How can I change instance's fixed ip

If you have manually changed the IP you need to kill all the running iptables from the compute node and then start the service again. From the dashboard if you want the new IP to be displayed you can manually update the mysql table reflect the IP you have assigned.

2015-02-03 03:19:38 -0600 answered a question HP Helion - Undercloud will not spawn. SSH Times out.

Is this a virtual install? If yes, it can be that launching the instance took more time than what is allotted in the script. You can try modifying the following script

root/tripleo/tripleo-incubator/scripts/ root/tripleo/tripleo-incubator/scripts/

Look for the time out setting.

Hope that works for you. Cheers

Check the bridge interface when you created the network in nova. Better yet why don't you share your nova.conf so people can help you check.

If it's not in the cinder database then it possible that it was not installed properly. It will also help if you post your cinder.conf and include information about your setup, like how was it installed, how many nodes are you trying to setup..stuff like that.

2014-10-30 21:05:50 -0600 answered a question How can I restore/backup from VolumeSnapshot?

I am not sure if there's a straight forward rebuild function with ceph as the back end because I haven't tried it yet. What I am about to try is Ceph's incremental snapshot. So basically, instead of launching a new instance from a new snapshot, I could simply generate the diff and apply the delta. My purpose is probably different than yours, I am after a DR site, but you could probably use the same idea.

2014-10-24 17:51:12 -0600 answered a question Does OpenStack dynamically scale or migrate instances when compute node becomes overloaded?

HI, Afaik there's no automagical way of migrating the instance, unless of course you have a third party tool that monitors the load of a particular compute node and provided you have a shared storage that will enable you to transfer disk of the instance. What the controller will do, particularly the scheduler, is to stop launching instance in an overloaded compute node and passed on the request to the another nodes that has available resources.

If you have defined backup_driver, remove that as well. Your cinder.conf should contain the following:

It would be good also to check if you have created ceph client keyrings for ceph_datastore pool and copied the keyrings and ceph.conf to your cinder-volume nodes

Hi, You need to include the following in your nova.conf. Additionally, for devstack, some of the logs that are relevant for you are in /opt/devstack. You may also check the running screen to see what's happening in your environment.

Hope that helps.

2014-10-23 16:56:31 -0600 answered a question Cinder Multiple Storage Backend using ceph

Hi, Cinder allows multiple drivers to be used concurrently, say for example NetApp and Ceph. But I don't understand why you would use 3 different cluster of ceph. If you are aiming for different iops per use case, you can attain this by crushmap and 3 separate pools for (7.2, 10k and 15k RPM).
