2015-11-25 01:05:14 -0500 asked a question nova-docker fail to attach interface

Hello,

I'm trying to install nova-docker with openstack stable/kilo.

I have three machine (Controller(VM), Compute1(VM), Compute2(Physical Machine)). Then All VMs(controller, compute1) has ubuntu-14.04.2, kernel-3.16.0, and PM(compute2) has a ubuntu-14.04.3, kernel-3.19.0

I installed OpenStack to Compute1 and Compute2 with exactly with same procedures via DevStack.

problem is that compute1 working well for attaching interface (I mean "creating instance -> attaching additional interface"), but compute2 doesn't working(creation working but not work for attaching additional interface).

I used below command to attach interface

nova interface-attach --net-id=d69c4fbc-a664-4fb5-960c-4f97e83b4aac test-docker

below log is n-cpu log.

2015-09-02 21:26:17 -0500 asked a question docker image compatibility and scheduling

I installed OpenStack stable/kilo with docker using Devstack.

first one, I confirmed working well (nginx:latest docker image). but some docker image wasn't working. (socketplane/openvswitch:latest)

second one, the builded system is consist of two type of hypervisor (docker, KVM). I tried to make instance using docker image(container type=docker). but scheduler assign it on the KVM based Compute node.

Currently, I divides availability-zone (docker, kvm) to use it. is this best choice now??

2014-08-25 21:22:49 -0500 answered a question iperf isn't work between VMs which are placed in other host

I solve my problem. MTU occurred mentioned problem. I reduce MTU on VM through bellow commend. then it's work well. #sudo ip link set mtu 1454 dev eth0

refer following blog. http://techbackground.blogspot.kr/201...

yes, it was disabled.

2014-08-24 10:23:41 -0500 asked a question iperf isn't work between VMs which are placed in other host

Hello, I tried to measure network performance BTW VM which connected through GRE tunnel. So, I configured neutron(ML2/GRE). then I verified TCP performance between VMs which are placed on same host. but I could not make iperf connection bTW VMs (on other host), but ping is ok.

bellow thing is current Security group configuration. I think that I allow all thing to execute iperf.

2014-08-17 22:58:28 -0500 asked a question How can I select host node to create VM?

Hello, When I create instance, I want to choice host node. I saw that by default, VMs are scheduled by filter scheduler which only consider computing resource. I want to apply substrate network considered scheduling algorithm on OpenStack. To do this one, I have to monitor utilization of computing/network resources. Now, I’m planning to use OpenvSwitch commend to know network situation.

Do you have any comment for me? (monitor/scheduling)

2014-08-10 22:17:13 -0500 asked a question Neutron: why OVS bridges (br-int, br-tun) are integrated in Icehouse?

Hello, I want to know that why bridges are integrated. So, I saw that GRE tunnels also established on br-int. I dumped flowtables on br-int like bellow. (It's summerized )

table=0, n_packets=29, n_bytes=2938, send_flow_rem in_port=3,dl_src=fa:16:3e:9e:dc:5f actions=set_field:0x3->tun_id,goto_table:10 table=0, n_packets=22, n_bytes=2308, send_flow_rem in_port=4,dl_src=fa:16:3e:41:24:1d actions=set_field:0x3->tun_id,goto_table:10 table=0, n_packets=70, n_bytes=8286, send_flow_rem tun_id=0x3,in_port=2 actions=goto_table:20 table=0, n_packets=0, n_bytes=0, send_flow_rem priority=8192,in_port=3 actions=drop table=0, n_packets=0, n_bytes=0, send_flow_rem priority=8192,in_port=4 actions=drop table=0, n_packets=415, n_bytes=37765, send_flow_rem dl_type=0x88cc actions=CONTROLLER:56

table=10, n_packets=0, n_bytes=0, send_flow_rem priority=8192,tun_id=0x3 actions=goto_table:20 table=10, n_packets=12, n_bytes=1860, send_flow_rem priority=16384,tun_id=0x3,dl_dst=01:00:00:00:00:00/01:00:00:00:00:00 actions=output:2,goto_table:20 table=10, n_packets=24, n_bytes=2084, send_flow_rem tun_id=0x3,dl_dst=fa:16:3e:4c:a5:a9 actions=output:2,goto_table:20 table=10, n_packets=15, n_bytes=1302, send_flow_rem tun_id=0x3,dl_dst=fa:16:3e:e8:f6:86 actions=output:2,goto_table:20

table=20, n_packets=39, n_bytes=3386, send_flow_rem priority=8192,tun_id=0x3 actions=drop table=20, n_packets=21, n_bytes=2956, send_flow_rem priority=16384,tun_id=0x3,dl_dst=01:00:00:00:00:00/01:00:00:00:00:00 actions=output:4,output:3 table=20, n_packets=18, n_bytes=2102, send_flow_rem tun_id=0x3,dl_dst=fa:16:3e:41:24:1d actions=output:4 table=20, n_packets=25, n_bytes=2732, send_flow_rem tun_id=0x3,dl_dst=fa:16:3e:9e:dc:5f actions=output:3

then, I assumed that by enabling OF1.3 protocol on OVS, they can use pipe-lining method by numbering Flowtable. but, I could not know that what is the advantage of integration of both bridges there are any performance improvement?

2014-08-10 21:16:39 -0500 commented answer external network configuration on icehouse ver.

The failure was that I could not communicate VM (was assigned floating IP) from HOST. and I tried to do as your comment. Thank you for your answer!

2014-08-10 21:13:59 -0500 commented answer connect VM in devstack to external network

please explain more your network. and I think that you want to communicate VM from outside network. then you should attach public IP address to VM. not default IP pool range (172.24.4.224/28).

yes, activate NAT to translate private to public.... if you want to know about this more, try to find "iptable nat configuration"
