2014-10-07 00:10:12 -0500 asked a question sahara part of Juno or icehouse?

Is Sahara part of the core projects in Juno like the same status of trove, heat, etc.

Juno release note not showing sahara as integrated project. (I know it is not final yet)

However sahara is showing as a integrated project at this site -

Also this site shows some sahara activities for Juno-1-2-3.

But one of the Q&A says it is kind of part of icehouse release

But the icehouse release note does not show anything about sahara

2014-09-14 22:47:30 -0500 commented question Heat template to deploy multiple DB & App instances?

Why there is "-2" vote - could some one please explain what is wrong with the question? I was expecting some kind of hints to move forward. Currently we are manipulating web applications and DB using some templates and then scripts.

2014-09-14 08:23:56 -0500 commented question hp helion CE install Error - X-GUI components failing after install?

The last two versions are having same behavior. After the Helion install none of the X works.

Here is the work aorund I have: I have to rerun the x packages to get all X working, for example, Firefox, Virtualbox, etc. So I ran sudo apt-get install xorg xserver-xorg xauth build-essential

2014-09-14 08:13:20 -0500 answered a question tempest failing because pypi server timed out?

Here is the solution I have:

Some of the mirrors may not be working in your organization environment mainly because of proxy settings. Keep changing the mirror and see which one works in your world.

~./pip/pip.conf - edit: Index-url=add pip mirror site

~/.bashrc - edit: export PIP_INDEX_URL= add pip mirror site

  • Check the log files including here /root/.pip/pip.log

  • Remove the .venv and rerun the ./ file

  • If pip is only failing wih "-r", then try

pip install --upgrade -r

  • OR Setup your own pypi mirror

2014-09-14 07:41:14 -0500 edited question Heat template to deploy multiple DB & App instances?

Is there a heat template to deploy multiple database instances in a single compute node? Also associated application stack can go along with each DB instance configuration, that will be great!

Let me add some more stuff to it. I can see a -1 vote on it.

Here is my question? Do I need to replicate the same template 10 times or run the stack with 10 times with different environment files? What is the best looping mechanism to deploy 'n' number of such stacks?

2014-08-14 00:55:59 -0500 commented question when I am migrating a resized VM, it's fail.

You mentioned Folsom and Ubuntu. May be you could try Icehouse and Ubuntu1404 in which I could live migrate like this.

nova resize NovaID flavorID

nova resize-confirm NovaID

nova list

nova live-migration NovaID HostName

-- the server status becomes active after this 'resize-confirm' command.

-- See whether you can access the VM after resize in your current machine before migrate.

-- If not, try 'nova revert-resize NovaID' and see that instance coming up.

-- You can create a snapshot of the image after resize and move to the destination node, create an instance in destination node to see the resized image indeed works.

See this link below for nova resize and confirm your resize is OK or not. Add the correct flavor for resize.

What is the command you are using to resize the VM?

We have used the virt-resize and it worked so far all the time moving from one node to another. Some links you may already know:

2014-08-12 05:46:44 -0500 commented question Bulk add IPs to VM

We are doing bulk add IP in our VMs with script and it works fine. What is the issue you are getting in the bulk add IPs to the VM? Is it one floating IP per VM or bunch of IPs for a single VM? Just checking to see whether my script can be shared or not.

2014-08-11 09:46:16 -0500 answered a question How to install heat on ubuntu 12.04?

if you look at the latest icehouse release, heat is part of the devstack install. You may use Ubuntu 14.04LTS. You could download the devstack using "git clone git:// -b stable/icehouse". Run ./ from the devstack folder which will install the heat along with other Openstack components. After the devstack install you can check the heat service running from 'screen -x' command. If the services are not running for any reason, you could try running them manually like this:

cd /opt/stack/heat; bin/heat-engine --config-file=/etc/heat/heat.conf || echo "h-eng failed to start" | tee "/opt/stack/status/stack/h-eng.failure"

cd /opt/stack/heat; bin/heat-api --config-file=/etc/heat/heat.conf || echo "h-api faed to start" | tee "/opt/stack/status/stack/h-api.failure"

cd /opt/stack/heat; bin/heat-api-cfn --config-file=/etc/heat/heat.conf || echo "h-apcfn failed to start" | tee "/opt/stack/status/stack/h-api-cfn.failure"

cd /opt/stack/heat; bin/heat-api-cloudwatch --config-file=/etc/heat/heat.conf || ech"h-api-cw failed to start" | tee "/opt/stack/status/stack/h-api-cw.failure"

If still getting failure then need to go to debug further. Check the log files mentioned in the command line shown above and trace further from it.

2014-08-04 11:29:11 -0500 answered a question devstack local.conf backslash

Had similar issue and solved like this:

$ export USER=/abcd/xyz/

$ export ESCAPED_USER='echo $USER | sed 's/\//\\\\\//g'`

Then you can pass the $ESCAPED_USER to your program/file. You may need to make the appropriate slash(forward or backward) in your case. Hope this helps.

2014-08-04 11:09:48 -0500 answered a question Logging in Ask OpenStack using email address

We had similar issue with some password mess up. Try 'forgot password' option and then make a new password to sign up. That will sign up to the correct account. You can link then your other accounts to it. Probably this will clear the issue.

2014-08-04 10:57:06 -0500 commented question unable to locate the openstack icehouse packages on ubuntu 12.O4

You may need to run this command -- 'sudo add-apt-repository cloud-archive:icehouse' & then run 'sudo apt-get update'

2014-08-04 10:48:31 -0500 commented question Openstack Juno on Ubuntu 14.04

We have installed Juno on Ubuntu14.04 with standard devstack install procedure with no issues. (You may need to have local.conf settings, etc. which are similar to icehouse not juno specific)

2014-08-01 06:10:22 -0500 answered a question ./stack .sh Failed due to Permission denied

We had the similar problem and resolved the following way: - If you are using stack user(or any other user for that matter), it is better to download the devstack.git from that user login and then all the folders created including /home/youruser/devstack will have necessary permissions. - Also try to do 'chown -R youruser devstack' and 'chmod 770 devstack' - Run - Run
