2014-06-27 00:39:45 -0500 asked a question ebtables not supported by the kernel

I'm trying to run VM on the controller node from the openstack dashboard but VM is resulting in error state. Below are the logs of nova-compute ..

error: Failed to start domain instance-00000003
error: Error while building firewall: Some rules could not be created for interface tap4: Failure to execute command '$EBT -t nat -A libvirt-J-tap4 -j J-tap4-mac' : 'The kernel doesn't support a certain ebtables extension, consider recompiling your kernel or insmod the extension.'.

How should I proceed?

    Hi

I'm trying to run VM from controller node onto compute node and it is stucking at spawning state.I'm able to get the libvirt.xml in /opt/stack/data/nova/instances/729482302900..... on the compute node and below is the libvirt.xml file..

I'm able to manually run VM through virsh and it is appearing running in virsh list but I'm not able to understand that why it is not able to run automatically from the cloud itself.

Below are the steps for running VM manually through virsh..

virsh undefine instance-00000003
virsh define libvirt.xml
virsh start instance-00000003

Please help regarding this.

Thanks

But what about the tap interface not appearing. Is it due to the image issue or something else?

Here's the command to boot vm from controller node onto compute node....

 nova boot --flavor m1.tiny --image $(nova image-list | grep mini.iso'\s' | awk '{print $2}') --nic net-id=$(neutron net-list | grep private | awk '{print $2}') admin-private90 --availability-zone availability-zone:t4240-ubuntu1310

Yes I have uploaded the image for new VM via glance
