It helped me as well on one of the setups which I recently did. But what I am surprised of that Dashboard of my another setup is working smoothly without it. Both the setups are of Newton Version.

Sorry for delayed response. Thanks a lot! It is very clearly explained. Though I need to try it on Ubuntu and AD. Will surely revert back once implemented.

2017-05-10 02:04:52 -0600 asked a question How to integrate existing AD/Domain to Openstack Newton Keystone

I have created OpenStack Newton Infra on Ubuntu 16.04. Infra is running fine. Now I want to integrate it with my existing Active Directory/Domain/Group. How can I achieve it ?

What changes are required at OpenStack/Keystone end ? Do I need to do some changes at existing AD/Group/OU/Domain end ? Will my current OpenStack (Newton) Infra (Projects/Users etc.) work as is after integration with Active Directory ?

Please help. I referred below link but still need suggestion on above questions. https://docs.openstack.org/admin-guid...

2017-05-09 02:37:30 -0600 answered a question not create a listening tcp socket on the port 9696, not connection to neutron

It can happen because of multiple reasons few of them are enlisted below.

  1. Incorrect IP/hostname/password in configuration files in neutron.conf or nova.conf across compute, controller and network node acn cause this. It was the problem statement in my scenario. I corrected it and it worked pretty well after that.
  2. Ensure neutron-linux-bridge service is up and running on controller and neutron node.
  3. Ensure basic entries in etc/hosts files are correct across nodes.
  4. Ensure relevant ports are open in IP tables.

2015-01-28 04:49:13 -0600 marked best answer nova-compute is not coming up in OpenStack DevStack

nova-compute is not coming up in OpenStack Devstack All in One Node Install. While nova services are enable in stackrc

local.conf is also fine. Dashboard is coming up with all the services but compute host is not showing up.It is a physical machine (Ubuntu 12.04 Server), IP address is fixed. etc/hosts has correct entry. Also I have updated and upgraded before running ./stack.sh

nova-compute service is missing shows the below output.

Unable to figure out on what am I missing, please help!

local.conf looks like below

hadoop@hadoop:~/devstack$ cat local.conf
# Sample ``local.conf`` for user-configurable variables in ``stack.sh``

# NOTE: Copy this file to the root ``devstack`` directory for it to
# work properly.

# ``local.conf`` is a user-maintained setings file that is sourced from ``stackrc``.
# This gives it the ability to override any variables set in ``stackrc``.
# Also, most of the settings in ``stack.sh`` are written to only be set if no
# value has already been set; this lets ``local.conf`` effectively override the
# default values.

# This is a collection of some of the settings we have found to be useful
# in our DevStack development environments. Additional settings are described
# in http://devstack.org/local.conf.html
# These should be considered as samples and are unsupported DevStack code.

# The ``localrc`` section replaces the old ``localrc`` configuration file.
# Note that if ``localrc`` is present it will be used in favor of this section.

# While ``stack.sh`` is happy to run without ``localrc``, devlife is better when

# If the ``SERVICE_TOKEN`` and ``*_PASSWORD`` variables are not set

2015-01-23 07:14:44 -0600 edited question Sahara stuck in waiting then goes into Error: Devstack

I tried launching Sahara it first goes to waiting then Error

Installation is like below:

Devstack All in One Node, RAM: 16 GB, Core: 4, OS:Ubuntu 14.04,
Nova-Networking used, Image used for Hadoop: sahara-juno-vanilla-1.2.1-ubuntu-14.04, Sahara is configured not to use floating IPs, Proxy is not used,

Infrastructure is up and running successfully. I created Node Template and Cluster Template. On launching Cluster Instances in the Cluster become Active, I can also ssh instances using putty keygen. While Cluster stuck in to waiting for long time and then goes in Error state.

Below is the log for sahara
