command is correct. If the state is not moving , then start debugging by seeing the ceilometer logs.

Looks strange to me also. Following it.

while rescheduling instance on B/C, do you have any log from Mellanox neutron-mlnx-agent ?

2015-07-22 01:15:55 -0500 commented question Kilo install error: Create the service entity for the Identity service

is this fresh install or upgrade ? If it's an upgrade, then some package are not upgraded properly.

According to usage, --type <service-type> is mandatory parameter so you need to use --type identity

2015-07-17 00:34:03 -0500 edited question Neutron node router can not access external gateway

Hi,

In neutron node I can not access the external gate way using the config router:

root@network:~# ip netns exec qrouter-15929d62-0e4c-4963-ae52-95f4e81f6097 ping 10.30.180.1
PING 10.30.180.1 (10.30.180.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 10.30.180.155 icmp_seq=54 Destination Host Unreachable
From 10.30.180.155 icmp_seq=55 Destination Host Unreachable

Below is my network node config, could some one help me analyze the reason?

  1. bind-address = 10.0.0.11 . IP should be your controller host IP. If your controller host is configured with the same ip , then it's fine.

  2. Check the /var/log/mysql/error.log for more detail to find the problem.

2015-06-29 07:05:25 -0500 edited question Unable to Launch Instance - Fresh Install 3 Node Openstack - NovaException: Unexpected vif_type=binding_failed

Hi Everybody,

I followed the Openstack Installation for Kilo and am attempting to launch my first instance using the Cirros Image. I am getting an Error: No valid host was found. There are not enough hosts available. And in my nova-compute.log on my compute node I am getting the NovaException: Unexpected vif_type=binding_failed.

From reading the other questions of this type of nature it appears it is neutron related. I have checked my ml2 plugin connectivity and deleted and re-added the bridge connections and still no luck. I have pasted the error log below.

Any help is appreciated.

    vm-1 192.168.10.10 192.168.10.2
    vm-2 192.168.10.11
The ip 192.168.10.10 is attached by nova interface-attach command.

2)On vm-1:
host-192-168-10-2:~ # ip addr

    inet6 fe80::f816:3eff:fe5d:f180/64 scope link
       valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
Here you can see there are two interfaces and each interface only has one IP.

3)Through eth1,it can ping 192.168.10.10:
host-192-168-10-2:~ # ping -I eth1 192.168.10.11
PING 192.168.10.11 (192.168.10.11) from 192.168.10.10 eth1: 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 192.168.10.11: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=2.71 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.10.11: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.737 ms

4)But on vm-2 which has the ip 192.168.10.11:
host-192-168-10-11:~ # arp
Address HWtype HWaddress Flags Mask Iface
host-192-168-10-2.opens ether fa:16:3e:5d:f1:7d C eth0
host-192-168-10-10.open ether fa:16:3e:5d:f1:7d C eth0

Here you can see the two interface and MAC are same.
2015-06-24 06:25:34 -0500 commented question Problems of attaching an additional port to a vm

First check that ethernet is getting detected by using lspci command. After that , if you are using network manager inside VM, then it should detect automatically otherwise you need to configure manually.

2015-06-24 02:25:58 -0500 commented question Problems of attaching an additional port to a vm

Have you configured the NIC inside VM?

2015-06-24 02:02:58 -0500 answered a question Can I create an instance that spans multiple nodes?

My understanding:

I think this is not possible. Cloud environment will give you horizon scaling i.e you can keep adding compute node and run the VM. This will not give vertical scaling i.e if a compute node is not supporting required resource like RAM,CPU then you can not instantiate VM with large hardware requirement. In that case you have to upgrade your compute node.

those two port are not properly bounded with neutron network , that why neutron is assigning dead van tag to those.

Before running any neutron commands, make sure that all agents are up and running.

2015-06-14 11:14:52 -0500 answered a question VM traffic not properly handled on Network node

Two important port in br-int 1. dhcp porttap752ac585-ff 2. router port qr-495aff55-b0 are having dead vlan tag. I think this is causing the problem.

 Port "tap752ac585-ff"
            tag: 4095
            Interface "tap752ac585-ff"
                type: internal

 Port "qr-495aff55-b0"
            tag: 4095
            Interface "qr-495aff55-b0"
                type: internal

Delete all the neutron network and re-create.

2015-06-12 01:33:42 -0500 commented question VM getting migrated on same host

Check the nova logs. There will be some logs to start debugging.

if openstack will not find any proper host to migrate , then it will not move the VM. It will keep running on the same host. That's why you felt that VM is migrating on the same host. But it's not.

2015-06-12 01:28:54 -0500 commented question Horizon Interface Timeout

Run the required service in verbose/debug mode and then see the logs.

For your case , enable the log in glance service and run it.

  1. Verify that your request from horizon is received at glance or not.
  2. See the error and then try to solve.

2015-06-09 12:02:10 -0500 commented answer During snapshots, where are they saved on the hypervisor, and where do they finally end up?

Yes, you are right . Hypervisor will upload the image to the glance server. Have a look in the nova-compute.log while snapshot process.

2015-06-09 09:26:18 -0500 edited answer During snapshots, where are they saved on the hypervisor, and where do they finally end up?
1. While creating the snapshot , it will access /var/lib/nova/instances/snapshots. It will create temporary file while doing snapshots

2. After that snapshot file will be stored as glance image i.e it will be stored in path used by glance image service. /var/lib/glance/images

As long as these paths are available and accessible, there will be no problem. you can use any backed driver for cinder.
