2015-10-20 21:27:36 -0500 asked a question Events for assigning / removing floating IPs

Hi,

I'm trying to add DNS entries for assigned floating IPs (and removing them once disassociated). It's based on these blog posts:

It's working well for the internal IPs (which I get with these events) but I'm not getting any for assigning / removing floating IPs. Does anybody have an idea where or even if messages for those are sent to RMQ?

I'm using Openstack 14.04 LTS, Openstack Kilo and Neutron with OVS if that matters.

Greetings
.Sascha

2014-01-24 07:04:20 -0500 asked a question Can nova-network handle multiple networks per instance

I'm on Havana / Ubuntu 12.04 and try to add a second network to an existing instance.

I created the network (with the same project id the instance has) and called nova network-associate-host with network id and instance id, but nova list didn't show the newly added network. Also the instance didn't get a second NIC, and in Horizon, when launching a new instance I cannot select which network(s) should be associated to the new instance.

Is this even possible with nova-network?

Greetings

1. Neutron is not and was never in the keystone service-list 2. Neutron packages were never installed on that system 3. They are and were 4. ;) Did that multiple times 5. Even used different browsers

Found the solution.

In local_settings.py you have to comment in OPENSTACK_NEUTRON_NETWORK and set enable_lb to False. That solved the issue for me

I meant: If you check the public key fingerprint (e.g by loading the public key into puttygen) and compare it to the output of "nova keypair-list" - do they match? Also are you sure, you're using the right private key to the public key you added to Nova?

Can I ask, how you got Horizon to work? My Horizon installation (Havana / Ubuntu 12.04) tries to find Neutron, which I obviously do not have, as I'm using nova-network ([error] ConnectionFailed: Connection to neutron failed: Maximum attempts reached)

@dheeru but as you can see in the log-snippet in the question: Horizon is showing me an error... Any idea what's going wrong here? Also I would be interested in your step-by-step instruction with Neutron/Havana/Ubuntu - Any chance you could send me the preview?

As I've written in the question: nova-network and the FlatDHCPManager

Ok, added an instance via cmdline, and it boots and I can log in via SSH, so that all works

That would be great! Nevertheless, is it possible to use Horizon without Neutron installed?

Can you check that the keypair shows with the correct public key hash?

Hi,

I'm trying to install OpenStack according to http://docs.openstack.org/havana/install-guide/install/apt/content/ I'm trying to install on a single node and a single network interface. This is my third attempt ;) so I'm a little frustrated. After failing with Grizzly/Neutron and Havana/Neutron, this time I tried installing with nova-network (FlatDHCPManager).

Currently I'm stuck with starting Horizon, because it's missing Neutron. Apache error.log:
