Like was already said, you can piece it together many ways, but if you want basic separation like you suggest this is how you do it:

Controller node: neutron-server neutron-plugin-ml2

Network node: neutron-linuxbridge-agent neutron-l3-agent neutron-dhcp-agent neutron-metadata-agent

Compute node: neutron-linuxbridge-agent

Sure thing. When a new release comes out, I usually build it vanilla, then move glance, nova, cinder, and swift functionality over to ceph. I've only tried nautilus so far. You can track my ussuri build on centos 8.1 here: https://github.com/crono782/openstack-ussuri-install (https://github.com/crono782/openstack...)

I see your physical_interface_mappings interface rather than a bridge in in linuxbridge-agent.conf, It should be a bridge, not an interface. Here is my working config (ovs instead of linuxbridge and I use a dedicated network node, but close enough):

ml2_conf.ini

[DEFAULT]
[ml2]
extension_drivers = port_security
mechanism_drivers = openvswitch,l2population
tenant_network_types = vxlan
type_drivers = flat,vlan,vxlan
[ml2_type_flat]
flat_networks = provider
[ml2_type_vxlan]
vni_ranges = 1:1000
[securitygroup]
enable_ipset = true

openvswitch_agent.ini

[DEFAULT]
[ovs]
local_ip = 10.10.20.102
bridge_mappings = provider:br-provider
[agent]
l2_population = True
tunnel_types = vxlan
[securitygroup]
firewall_driver = iptables_hybrid

I am currently in process of installing Usurri on CentOS 8.1, but without Ceph so far. The package for the repo is missing, but after making an ussuri repo manually, everything installs like you expect. I've only got a basic install working thus far (keystone, glance, nova, neutron, horizon, cinder and swift).

I attempted an install and am getting a hard stop on installing openstack-nova-compute. The libvirt packages are still at 4.5 in the centos repos and not the >= 5.0 nova wants. I would expect until the libvirt packages are available, ussuri won't be viable for centos 8.
