2020-08-31 17:43:24 -0600 asked a question Senlin Installation using Juju and Senlin from Ubuntu Repo

I want to install Senlin on an existing OS setup. The OS was initially installed using juju, so I believe the option of using git to install best fit our situation (or can it be installed using juju?). However, I do not know which OS server, Senlin should be installed on. Can someone please direct me on this?

Secondly, there is a Senlin-engine in Ubuntu's repository, is this the same Senlin from OS?

Thank you and I look forward to responses.

then a general load balancer that will redirect requests to a different cluster.

Does this sound doable/worthwhile?

Thank you.

virtual machines but when it comes to clusters, then the Senlin load balancing option is what to use.

My experimental setup will look somewhat like this, 2 to 3 clusters having a minimum of 5 nodes (virtual machines), each cluster will have a load balancer balancing load to nodes in the cluster,

Hi @johnsom , thank you for your response.

I am now at a stage where I need some clarifications, please. I want to create clusters of a virtual machine, I saw that Senlin has its own kind of load balancing, am I right? From what I have read, Octavia can be used for many separate

2020-08-18 09:38:11 -0600 asked a question Openstack Octavia - How to Load balance Web Applications

I am trying to fire up Octavia Load balancer to balance user requests over 5 servers running a web application. I have been searching for a tutorial on this as the OpenStack API does not give a detailed guideline.

A brief background to my current OpenStack setup. We have OpenStack installed using juju and Octavia was installed also using juju, this link https://jaas.ai/octavia/15 and this is the overlay bundle used https://github.com/openstack-charmers/openstack-bundles/blob/master/stable/overlays/loadbalancer-octavia.yaml (https://github.com/openstack-charmers...). After this installation, to bring Octavia up is my problem. I followed this tutorial https://docs.openstack.org/octavia/latest/install/install-ubuntu.html (https://docs.openstack.org/octavia/la...), but it seems to be doing what the juju commands did, so I am at a loss to how I am supposed to start up an Octavia instance.

Can someone point me to a resource that explains this or guide me through it?

Thank you.

2020-07-19 08:18:07 -0600 asked a question Programmatic use of Openstack API

Hi all, Is it possible to use Openstack API in codes such as C#? I am writing some codes and will need to bring up VM instances in Openstack infrastructure. Hence, how do I write a code to fire up instances in Openstack, if another language will do it, kindly let me know.

Kindly help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Is there any SDK for developing OpenStack on .NET. I came across this http://www.openstacknetsdk.org but it's not been updated since 2 years ago.

@johnsom, thank you very much for your response. Is there a reference for each of the algorithm's behaviour?

2019-12-03 12:58:36 -0600 asked a question octavia distribution Algorithm

Can someone please point me to the distribution algorithm octavia uses to distribute loads on virtual machine. I am aware of the fact that most of the load balancers use the round-robin algorithm but I haven't seen what type of algorithm Octavia uses.

Also, how do I extend some functionalities of Octavia, does it accept external scripts that can modify it's behaviour?

Thank you all.

2019-11-01 11:08:07 -0600 asked a question Cloud Computing Algorithm Implementation on Open Stack Cloud

Hi All,

What is the best way to implement cloud computing algorithms such as a load balancing algorithm on cloud infrastructure instead of using a simulator?

Does cloud benchmark tools suffice for this? if yes any recommendation on verified tools?

Thank you in advance.

I have resolved this issue. The block device were not properly named in the bundle.yaml that I deployed. So I ssh into each of the ceph-osd machine using sudo juju ssh NameOfCeph, ran lsblk to see the name of the drive. I then opened juju GUI and changed the name under ceph-osd.

Hi All, I am new to openstack and it's deployment, so having some issues with it.

I deployed openstack bundle using juju(version 2.6.9-bionic-amd64) and this tutorial https://docs.openstack.org/project-deploy-guide/charm-deployment-guide/latest/install-openstack-bundle.html (https://docs.openstack.org/project-de...).

After deployment I found out ceph-osd and ceph-radosgw has status "blocked" and message "No block devices detected using current configuration". Can you please shed light on what the problem maybe. Also some other components such as "nova-compute" complains of "Incomplete relations: storage-backend". What do I need to do to rectify this. I have tried to instal openstack by components, but this does not resolve it.

I cannot upload pictures because I am a new member, but below shows what I see, when I run juju status
