The other issue that I have is for when the cinder service is Magically working but I'm not able to boot from image(create a new volume) i get no image error, the system creates the volume 3 times and the instance fails.

The above issue looks to be resolved by adding the driver in cinder.conf but i have the below issue now: 1-When I create or delete a small size volume everything seems to be ok, but deleten time is very long(1gig volume). But when I create a large volume(200GB) I cannot delete the volume at all or it takes forever, there in no log for this in schdular, there is below long in cinder-api and this log in cinder-volume:

Hi,

I'm tying to limit the tenants bandwith with the use of flavors. I'm useing

nova-manage flavor set_key --name m1.small  --key quota:inboud_average --value 10240
nova-manage flavor set_key --name m1.small  --key quota:outboud_average --value 10240

but no luck yet, the tenant can use full bandwith available. In the doc https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/InstanceResourceQuota it says something about only using one child.... maybe im making a mistake there. any suggestions?

Hi,

When I create a volume the status of the newly created volume is Error. The volume gets created but not useable as error status. I can also successfully delete the volume.

Topology: Havana, ubuntu 12.0.4 I have a MD3600 Dell San, It is directly connected to a ubuntu server(block1) which has cinder installed. the drives from the SAN are mounted to the block1. The issue looks like a race condition to me, There is bug reported https://bugs.launchpad.net/cinder/+bug/1223469 I checked my lvm.sh and I have the break in the loop.

Please help me on what I should do to fix this.

If this is not the best approach to use my san as my storage or you think i can use a better solution to provide storage for vms please advise.

Cheers cinder.conf

Hi,

I'm looking for a centos image for glance. I found two and each have their own problem:

The first link dose not inject ssh key and I cant seem to find a password for it: https://github.com/rackerjoe/oz-image-build

the second one is 10G root, When i try to resize with virt-resize I get an error http://catn.com/labs/project/centos-images/

Fatal error: exception Guestfs.Error("unexpected end of file when reading from daemon.
This usually means the libguestfs appliance failed to start up. Please
enable debugging (LIBGUESTFS_DEBUG=1) and rerun the command, then look at
the debug messages output prior to this error

Do you know of any good working version or source for centos images.

Cheers

Hi,

I have a 3 compute nodes and I want to enable resizing between them. I'm using ubuntu 12.04 and HAVANA. The best link I found was how to do this on fedora but nothing for ubuntu. Please look below for fedora conf and please help me with ubuntu configuration.

Migrate and Resize

This is implemented currently by transferring the images between compute nodes over ssh. Therefore currently you need to make these adjustments on each compute node to allow that.

Allow logins for the nova user
 # usermod -s /bin/bash nova
 # su - nova
 $ chcon -u system_u -r object_r -t user_home_t .
 $ mkdir -p -m 700 --context=system_u:object_r:ssh_home_t:s0 .ssh && cd .ssh
Disable host identity checking by adding this to ssh config
 $ cat > config <<EOF
 Host *
   StrictHostKeyChecking no
   UserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null
 EOF
Generate and distribute ssh key
 $ ssh-keygen -f id_rsa -b 1024 -P ""
 $ scp /var/lib/nova/.ssh/id_rsa.pub root@otherHost:/var/lib/nova/.ssh/authorized_keys
 # chown nova:nova /var/lib/nova/.ssh/authorized_keys

Cheers

2014-03-02 07:59:30 -0500 asked a question After adding fixed-ip and restart Instance not reachable

Hi,

I using Havana, with OVS and GRE, neutron. What I want to achive is to have multiple floating ip for one instance: I created an instance with one NIC. after boot I added a fixed-ip, after addition nova shows that the ip is added but I was not able to see the new ip inside VM.(The ip was from DHCP pool). I decided to restart the server to see that the changes might take effect but after restart the instance was not able to even get its first allocated ip and it is not reachable anymore.

Is there something that im missing? should i add the second ip manually to the instance?

Hi Salvatore, Thank you very much for the response, Yes, I'm using neutron with OVS. I'm first going to try using the admin tenant(owner of the external net), I just did this, I created an instance on this tenant and assigned the ip address(public from external net) on it manually(as the external net dose not have dhcp enable) the problem was that there was no internet access, Not sure why this was but maybe because the compute node dose not have access to the external network directly!!!! and I'm not sure how OVS is behaving underneath. I need the per-tenant router for most of my use cases but this specific one I need public ip on vm. per tenant use cases work just fine at the moment, I create a router, set GW to external net all works. Thank you very much and i ... (more)

I have an issue with my neutron base network creation section on the tutorial. I'm using Havana and Ubuntu 12.04 server

My problem is when I'm creating the base network with command:

 neutron net-create ext-net --router:external=True  --provider:network_type vlan --provider:physical_network  physnet1 --provider:segmentation_id 1002  (tried 2 as well)

I'm getting:

 400-{u'NeutronError': {u'message': u'Invalid input for operation: Unknown provider:physical_network physnet1.', u'type': u'InvalidInput', u'detail': u''}}

I found someone with similar issue http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/openstack/operators/32720 but it looks like my problem is different.

/etc/neutron/plugins/openvswitch/ovs_neutron_plugin.ini:(network node and compute nodes)

tenant_network_type = vlan

network_vlan_ranges = physnet1:1000:2999

bridge_mappings = physnet1:br-eth1

And this is what i have on the controller node:

tenant_network_type = vlan

network_vlan_ranges = physne1:1000:2999

I dont have bridge_mappings on the controller node.
