2019-02-16 06:07:54 -0600 asked a question Snapshots taking long time

I launched an openstack instance using m1.small flavor, i deployed docker inside this instance and when i upload a docker image it takes a lot of time (hours). Then when i tried to create a snapshot of that instance it takes all the day in the saving state until i deleted them.

Is there a problem? If yes, how can i solve it?

@Bernd Bausch i couldn't find any resources help me to create the snapshot using create_server_image()

2019-02-14 05:15:55 -0600 commented question Make an exact copy of a created OpenStack instance

i created the first instance without volume

i created the snapshot from that instance, i got a private image snapshot then i created a public image from this private image. Then i launched the instance with the private image.

All snapshosts are shown under images in Horizon.

But, i didn't find any documentation how to realize the process of snaphot instance creation using python Sdk without volume cinder.

Using the account name is working fine now.

I need just to create an instance precofigured ( contain different softwares and metadta) for saving time in its creation every time.

when i use this command ssh -i mykey.pem ubuntu@new_ip address i access to the created instance from where we create the snapshot

ps: ubuntu is the image name of the first instance

What you mean by an account configured on this instance ?

2019-02-13 07:07:25 -0600 commented question Make an exact copy of a created OpenStack instance

@Bernd Bausch I used this URL https://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/use...

i used same parameters used to launch the first instance just in the image, i used the public image of the snapshot private image. I launched the instance from the horizon dashboar

2019-02-13 05:24:30 -0600 commented question Make an exact copy of a created OpenStack instance

@Bernd Bausch i launched the instance from the public image_snapshot getting from the private snapshot

ssh -i mykey.pem instance_name@ip

instance_name should be the name of the new created instance from the snapshot image or the instance name of the first instance from where we take the snapshot?
