My understanding, please correct me if I'm wrong, is that the cloud controller basically hosts Openstack functionality and VPS images to build off of. So, for the VPS end user, a weak cloud controller would only result in slower installation of VPSes from those images, and maybe a slower Havana control panel experience? For example, is it advisable to use this setup:

Cloud: e3 1230v3 2x2tb 7.2krpm

Compute: l55369 (12 cores) 4x512gb SSD

2014-06-03 04:22:59 -0500 asked a question Dynamically limit instance bandwidth

Hi, How can I dynamically limit instance bandwidth based on usage? For example, I want a rule where if an instance uses over 50mbps for over half an hour, the instance port speed/rxtx factor will be reduced to 10mbps for the next 6 hours. How can I do that? I'm using Havana and nova-network.

Hello all, Is my understanding of Openstack correct in that you can setup on one node initially and then add more nodes one by one to create a central storage pool?

How does one enable instance password injection on instance creation in a Havana+KVM setup? Simply enabling libvirt_password_injection = True does not inject anything into the images.

@Cristi Falcas I just got this result running "mount /dev/sda2 /var/lib/nova/instances": mount: unknown filesystem type 'LVM2_member' @kashyapc I can't really understand your command. Are you doing the same thing Cristi is advocating?

Thanks for your answer kashyapc. How do I setup the instances on /dev/sda2? simply writing instances_path = /dev/sda2 doesn't seem to work.

Hi, I have successfully installed Openstack through the packstack installer. However, Openstack Havana only shows the 50gb allocated to home. How can I add the /dev/sda2 LVM to be used for VMs?

Thank you.

How much disk space does the cloud controller node take? By that, I mean all services other than compute. that'd help me gauge what kind of disks I need to use
