I am building a Windows 7 OpenStack instance using the c3.4xlarge flavor. This flavor has 16 VCPU's and 32 GB of RAM. However, when I do a report on instance, it only shows 2 cores. Is there a way to increase the number of cores that are available at initialization. The software I am running needs a minimum of 8 cores --- preferably 16.

Using the instance "as is", I would need a minimum of 6 OpenStack instances to replace each Engineering class desktop computer. Note: This is based on actual testing, not just math. Since I am trying to "virtualize" 25 desktop computers, I would need 125 OpenStack instances to get the job done.

We are trying to virtualize our LoadRunner testing environment using OpenStack as our "on prem" cloud solution.

The current state is a pool of 25 physical engineering class desktop computers running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit with 16 GB of RAM and 8 cores.

Trying various OpenStack flavors, but continually run the CPU utilization over 80%, causing errors to be issued from LoadRunner Controller. Most recent flavor was c3.4xlarge with 16 VCPUs and 32 GB of RAM.

Even with 16 VCPU's the utility that measures the specs of the computer only reports 2 cores on the OpenStack VM.

Is LoadRunner (TruClient protocol) simply too fat for OpenStack?
