2019-06-13 10:40:50 -0600 asked a question What should be the controller node IP when deploying OpenStack components on separate containers?

I want to install Openstack components on separate containers and test the services. In that case, I am confused about what IP address I should use for the controller. As every container will have its own IP address and some services like mariadb cannot bind to eth0 or docker0 interface IP address. Can I use localhost 127.0.0.1 as my controller IP?

2018-08-07 12:34:18 -0600 commented answer HI, Is there any way to telnet into an Openstack Instance using serial ports ?

does user-data also requires cloud-config ?

Hi, yes I am creating two instances on different compute nodes but in same physnet to check connectivity between them. Right now I have the heat template which works with VM creation. But when I tried with user-data say a simple script to create a file. its not working

Hi, Thank you for your response. I have tried using user-data. If I am not wrong we can write bash-script directly under the user-data param right ?

2018-08-06 17:23:45 -0600 asked a question Cloud-init on centos not able to reach metadata services

Hi, I am using heat template to create virtual machines which has no cloud-config or user-data parameters. Later I am using serial console to telnet into virtual machines. Upon boot the console is flooded with cloud-init messages like example: cloud-init[1079]: 2018-08-06 21:15:16,965 - url_helper.py[WARNING]: Calling 'http://6.6.6.2//latest/meta-data/instance-id' failed [70/120s]: unexpected error ['NoneType' object has no attribute 'status_code'] This is messing up with the telnet session which is a expect script. Is there any way that this can be prevented like disabling cloud-init on instance boot or with some user-data and cloud-config parameters.

Thank you

Hi, Thank you again. Less complicated ways will be ssh but I don't have a floating IP and I am writing a python and except script to test the connectivity using interactive console

Can the serial console be interactive as telnet sessions to send command like ping between VM to test connectivity among physnets ?

Hi, Thank you for your reply. To be more precise I want to obtain the serial port from driver.py file which can be added to xml file while creating an instance and can be used to telnet into the Openstack VM

The format : telent <hypervisor_ip> <serial_port>. This hack works for Liberty version but not for others.

2018-07-18 18:28:40 -0600 answered a question Error while accessing dashboard

Have you set the Keystone_url in local_settings file to point to controller IP address. It seems like Dashboard cannot get authentication token from keystone. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

2018-06-24 19:15:17 -0600 asked a question newton support for centos

Hi, I am trying to install Openstack Newton on Centos 7.3 platform. While installing the Openstack repository:

yum install centos-release-openstack-newton. I am getting the following output:

Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile * base: http://centos.s.uw.edu * epel: http://sjc.edge.kernel.org * extras: http://repos-lax.psychz.net * updates: http://mirror.sfo12.us.leaseweb.net Package yum-3.4.3-158.el7.centos.noarch already installed and latest version No package install available. No package centos-release-openstack-newton available. Nothing to do

Is Openstack newton support removed from Centos? how can I access the old Repositories ?
