Hello, I installed OpenStack Newton on Ubuntu 16.04.2 with 3 nodes : controller, compute, block storage.

Is it possible to add a VMware ESXi hypervisor host as a compute node ?

If it is, does anyone have a tutorial how to do that ?

The services installed are : keystone, glance, nova, neutron, horizon, cinder, heat, ceilometer.

Now I want to install the Sahara component to work with BigData, but I didn't find any official documentation on how to install and configure Sahara in my environment.

So please does anyone have a good tutorial or documentation ?

I found this solution : https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1384005 (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug....) :

So I modified the file "/usr/bin/ceilometer-api" by replacing the default port from 8000 to 8777, but it didn't work.

This may help (this output is after modification of /usr/bin/ceilometer-api) :

root@controller:/var/log/ceilometer# ss -anp | grep 8000
tcp LISTEN 0 128 *:8000 *:* users:(("heat-api-cfn",pid=1289,fd=4))

2017-06-01 05:34:22 -0600 asked a question why instances from different networks can ping each other

Hello, I installed OpenStack Newton on Ubuntu 16.04.2 with 3 nodes : controller, compute, block storage.

I created a new project, with three instances, each instance in a separate network : https://scontent.ftun1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t34.0-12/18834610_10210452879413206_637341540_n.png?oh=0a46e03b50455b36353b75e7f50ef6c5&oe=5932201A (image description)

I didn't configure any routing on the router, so I thought that instances won't be able to ping each other but it's not the case !! they all have connectivity to each other.

I don't want instances to have connectivity on each other, I want them only to have access to the provider network, how to do that ?

thanks

2017-05-18 15:52:43 -0600 asked a question instances don't get ip addresses after controller node shutdown

Hello, I installed OpenStack Newton on Ubuntu 16.04.2 with 3 nodes : controller, compute, block storage (the nodes are VMs on VMware ESXI 6.0) following this guide https://docs.openstack.org/newton/install-guide-ubuntu/ (https://docs.openstack.org/newton/ins...)

The services installed are : keystone, glance, nova, neutron, horizon, cinder, heat, ceilometer.

Everything seemed to work just fine, i was able to create instances, my instances get ip addresses, they have connectivity between each other and can access the internet.

But when i reboot my controller node or shut it down and start it, my instances lose their ip addresses.

This happens every day (because every day in the evening, i stop all my nodes, and next day in the morning, i start them).

But I noticed that when i restart the neutron-linuxbridge-agent (# service neutron-linuxbridge-agent restart) on the controller node, instances could get their ip address again.

These are the logs that have ERROR in the controller node after I started all my nodes this morning :
