2017-05-24 06:56:48 -0500 asked a question Newly created vm are not associated with any cielometer meters

Hi , After creating the VMs on the openstack(Newton), i see that there are no meters assosciated to the vm as shown below: Note:This is a packstack installation of Newton.

[root@cloud1 ~(keystone_admin)]# ceilometer  meter-list -q resource_id=35ee0924-f489-4762-9ad6-499bae6799bc
+------+------+------+-------------+---------+------------+
| Name | Type | Unit | Resource ID | User ID | Project ID |
+------+------+------+-------------+---------+------------+
+------+------+------+-------------+---------+------------+

However for other VMs,which were created few months earlier on the same openstack instance,i have seen that the meters are listed:

ceilometer  meter-list -q resource_id=1ea8294c-88b6-4b75-80ea-c1915c550c06

I have checked the ceilometer.conf configurations suggested in the forum and found that to be correct.

2017-04-24 01:21:07 -0500 asked a question Ceilometer alram state shows insufficient data

Hi , I am not able to see the cpu_util meter set for my resource and the ceilometer alarm state shows insufficient data as shown below.i am using open stack newton release.Please share your views on the issue.

------+------------------+ | Alarm ID | Name | State | Severity | Enabled | Continuous | Alarm condition | Time constraints | +--------------------------------------+-----------------------+-------------------+----------+---------+------------+--------------------------------------+------------------+ | 7925e13b-b432-4f75-b3d5-6aefcd4f7d83 | warn_on_high_cpu_test | insufficient data | low | True | False | max(cpu_util) >= 5.0 during 1 x 600s | None |

The ceilometer meter-list also shows empty for my resource: [root@cloud1 ceilometer(keystone_admin)]# ceilometer meter-list -q resource_id=cfc94c12-6189-4979-aefb-637bc630fb88 +------+------+------+-------------+---------+------------+ | Name | Type | Unit | Resource ID | User ID | Project ID | +------+------+------+-------------+---------+------------+ +------+------+------+-------------+---------+------------+
