2014-05-29 03:56:24 -0500 asked a question create new branch on remote for stackforge project

I'm now maintaining a sub project under stackforge. There is only a master branch for now, and we plan to create a release branch like stable/icehouse, since the repository is gated by gerrit(git reivew), the situtation may be a little complicate here. I created a new branch locally, and tried to git push origin <new_branch> and git push gerrit <new_branch>, neither succeeded.

git push gerrit stable/icehouse Total 0 (delta 0), reused 0 (delta 0) remote: Processing changes: refs: 1, done
To ssh://gpanda@review.openstack.org:29418/stackforge/powervc-driver.git ! [remote rejected] stable/icehouse -> stable/icehouse (prohibited by Gerrit) error: failed to push some refs to 'ssh://gpanda@review.openstack.org:29418/stackforge/powervc-driver.git'

BTW, I'm not in the core gerrit group of the project.

Would anyone shed some light on this, please? Thanks in advance.

2014-04-13 09:37:50 -0500 answered a question Nova REST API: --user-data equivalent

A good way to find the request/response details is to open debug option of OpenStack CLI, which is --debug, just like cyeoh-0 said.

nova --debug boot --config-drive=true --user-data ./cloud.cfg --key-name cloud_init_test --file ~/gpanda/person_file_1=person_files/person_file_1 --image ci_image_x --flavor 3 --nic net-id=81100ebe-46b3-4a20-8e67-d4d0ef7e5dc8,v4-fixed-ip=IP vm_a

Then a series of curl http REQ/RESP show up, the major one for this nova boot is like:

REQ: curl -i 'https://"HOST"/openstack/compute/v2/17c760d7e8144f8cabf01ef260c80e85/servers' -X POST -H "X-Auth-Project-Id: ibm-default" -H "User-Agent: python-novaclient" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "Accept: application/json" -H "X-Auth-Token: 330af453c51e4923b7f8e74cc354c2c2" -d '{"server": {"name": "vm_a", "imageRef": "62b91d66-4ec9-41ea-b6f7-cc6eb556b10d", "key_name": "cloud_init_test", "flavorRef": "3", "user_data": "base64_encoded_user_data_file_content", "max_count": 1, "min_count": 1, "personality": [{"path": "/root/gpanda/person_file_1", "contents": ""}], "networks": [{"fixed_ip": "THE_IP", "uuid": "81100ebe-46b3-4a20-8e67-d4d0ef7e5dc8"}], "config_drive": true}}'

2014-04-11 04:59:21 -0500 asked a question How to inject mutiple files with nova boot --file cli

I can boot a vm with cloud-init enabled image with some config data, including inject ONE file with --file <dest>=<src> format. Well, I wonder how to inject multiple personalized files, it is said at most 5 files supported(http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/openstack-compute/admin/content/instance-data.html#inserting_files). nova --debug boot --config-drive=true --user-data ./cloud.cfg --key-name cloud_init_test --file <dest>=<src> --image ci_image_x --flavor 3 --nic net-id=<id>,v4-fixed-ip=<ip> vm_a

thanks!

Thanks, zhiyan. That also solve my problem. BTW, I didn't fill Fax No. I guess the Mailing Address is the required one

2013-12-02 20:01:32 -0500 commented answer Cannot login Horizon Dashboard

In my devstack env, none of openstack' own services(nova/keystone/glance...) is registered in /etc/init.d, so I cannot use 'service' to check. I check with ps ef | grep xxx. after a normal restart of my vm, all of them are inactive, rejoin-stack.sh can wake them up

Yes, ./rejoin-stack.sh also works, which is just what I want. Thanks, jpichon!

Thanks jpichon! ./stack.sh solve my problem. BTW, this is actually another question(I'm a newbie to stack :-\) ./stack.sh must to be done after each reboot? which takes me 537 seconds this time. Is there any light alternative way to get back all the services, Is ./rejoin-stack.sh possible? Thanks again.

2013-11-27 10:20:09 -0500 asked a question Cannot login Horizon Dashboard

I installed devstack in my vm couple of weeks before, I once was able to login the dashboard, but now I cannot, it keeps saying "An error occurred authenticating. Please try again later.", I use "admin" and the password I set in localrc(ADMIN_PASSWORD) to login, can anybody give me some hints? I cannot remeber if I changed the user name over "admin" thanks in advance!
