2017-05-29 02:10:38 -0600 answered a question Access Virtual IP of Linux's cluster pair in OpenStack

I founded solution for create VIP in OpenStack.

Currently, we use private network for VMs instance, and then I add new Port in private network set as Virtual IP address.

Go to network -> private -> port of VM -> Add Allow Address Pair -> Enter Virtual IP address. (Do this for both nodes)

2017-05-25 05:33:58 -0600 asked a question Access Virtual IP of Linux's cluster pair in OpenStack

I have provisioned two Linux VMs in OpenStack and setup Linux's cluster using IBM Product (TSA).
This will be generate alias (secondary) IP address to be virtual IP address that bind to Active node.

Node 1: eth0: 10.0.0.3 (Active)
|--- eth0:0 - 10.0.0.10 (alias IP address)

Node 2: eth0: 10.0.0.6 (Standby)

But I cannot access 10.0.0.10 from another VM (Ex. Node2, another VM in same private network.)
How can I have additional setup to floating this VIP to can access from another VM ?

I'm not sure, is it cause from alias ip (vip) has no one instance to attach it?
Do can I use floating ip assign to this vip or need install package of OpenStack load balance to help on this?

2017-05-17 07:45:37 -0600 commented answer Ask for boot from image options

I have some 3 more questions

1) In case of use "ephemeral storage", is it same to "Boot from image" and "Create new volume = No"?

2) If used ephemeral storage, does installed program or data will be remained after reboot?

3) if I deleted image does instance still can be booted?

2017-05-17 01:13:06 -0600 asked a question Ask for boot from image options

On OpenStack 10, there is option to boot image with create new volume as yes/no. I would like to ask what is it different. If I select no, where does it use disk space for launch instance? (Is it used from Glance path?)

2017-05-08 05:37:01 -0600 answered a question How can I setup private/public network for access Instance from external network

Hi Bernd, Sanjana,

I have successfully configured the OpenStack network. Problem is when OpenStack installed completed, the virtual adapter named br-ex is up and set initial network as DEMO configuration 172.x.x.x, and this br-ex will down after reboot. Before there is no network script to start up this interface. So I have followed steps in this two links to completed re-setup br-ex

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_openstack_platform/10/html/networking_guide/openstack_networking_concepts#provider_networks (https://access.redhat.com/documentati...)

https://www.rdoproject.org/networking/neutron-with-existing-external-network/ (https://www.rdoproject.org/networking...)

After reboot br-ex is used exisiting network configuration (IP, Gateway), and public network is work fine

Thank you very much for your help.

After changing to flat, outside still cannot access to vm, but vm can ping back to router fixed ip address.

For gateway, I meant do I should to assign gateway ip for external networ? For example, should be match to gateway ip address of my openstack host, or can be whatever ip address.

More question, I'm not sure does gateway for public network should match to gateway of OpenStack machine, and how fixed ip address on external gateway work (It assigned from App pool)? Which one ip address need to allow from external network in real world network? Thank you very much.

2017-04-18 05:06:24 -0600 answered a question Can't create instance, error shown "No valid host"

Dear all,

Problem has been solved, what I tried are summarize as below:

  • I re-install RedHat & Openstack to has big of /var filesystem (Cinder's volume has reside on /var/lib/cinder/cinder-volumes)

  • Take care about nova services to have one set (Remove of localhost's set) First time I think it has something conflict about hosts configuration file. So nova services have splitted to two sets

Thanks.
