You need to load the nbd kernel module. To do this run the following as root (or with sudo):

modprobe nbd

2013-11-20 08:59:24 -0600 asked a question What is keymgr.fixed_key in cinder?

I'm seeing this in the logs for cinder-api:

2013-11-20 14:28:33.259 13599 WARNING cinder.keymgr.conf_key_mgr [-] This key manager is insecure and is not recommended for production deployments
2013-11-20 14:28:33.259 13599 WARNING cinder.keymgr.conf_key_mgr [-] config option keymgr.fixed_key has not been defined: some operations may fail unexpectedly

But cant find any reference to keymgr.fixed_key or fixed_key in Havana Configuration Reference or cinder-api --help. Could anybody shed some light?

Thanks!

2013-11-14 09:31:49 -0600 commented answer Install Openstack on Debian 6.0 Squeeze

At the moment the best thing to do is use Debian Wheezy and the GPLHost apt repo as described in http://docs.openstack.org/havana/install-guide/install/apt-debian/content/ squeeze is the old stable release of Debian anyway its time to upgrade.

2013-11-14 09:23:51 -0600 asked a question Why is nova-compute showing XXX

Hello, I'm running Debian Wheezy and following the guide with a Neutron Per-tenant routers with private networks setup. I've tried to combine the network and management node into one controller.

When I run nova-manage service list I see:

Binary Host Zone Status State Updated_At
nova-conductor controller internal enabled :-) 2013-11-14 14:55:51
nova-cert controller internal enabled :-) 2013-11-14 14:55:51
nova-consoleauth controller internal enabled :-) 2013-11-14 14:55:51
nova-scheduler controller internal enabled :-) 2013-11-14 14:55:51
nova-compute computenode00 nova enabled XXX 2013-11-14 06:25:14
nova-cert computenode00 internal enabled :-) 2013-11-14 14:55:52

I can get the following output from ssh root@controller date; ssh root@computenode00 date:

Thu Nov 14 15:28:45 GMT 2013
Thu Nov 14 15:28:45 GMT 2013

So NTP seems to be working.
