2017-05-07 05:50:00 -0500 asked a question installing Gnocchi in Newton is possible?

Hi everyone

I 'am using of Openstack Newton version. I'am going to install Telemetry component and in first steps I see that ceilometer API and Collerctor is replaced by Gnocchi in Ocata. So I have two major question:

1- What was wrong with API and ... and why deprecated in Ocata? If I use it, which problems will be happen?

2- As I mentioned, I 've done all of my installations, commands as Newton, So I want to know, installing Telemetry based on Ocata Doc and using Gnocchi instead of Data store and ... is possible without any problem?

Thanks

2017-02-09 20:50:53 -0500 marked best answer What is the meaning of teminating machine in openstack docs?

Hi

We say ephemeral image is a VM image that does not save changes made to its volumes and reverts them to their original state after the instance is terminated.Ok, Now I wanna know what is the meaning of terminate in OpenStack dictionary? shutdown or restart a vm means terminate it or Deleting means terminate? If shutdown machine means terminate, It is difficult for me to understand what happen for my instance, I boot my machine from ephemeral image and make some changes for example I copy a file in Drive C or I install IIS and … so after shutdown machine, all the changes will purge? If yes, what should I do for having the changes? I know I have problem in understanding base concept, may be thankful if guide me.

2017-02-05 00:03:47 -0500 answered a question Why Glance image upload is really slow using ceph storage integration?

Hi vathanlal

comment or remove this line: filesystem_store_datadir = /var/lib/glance/images/ that is default path of glance image (local file system) not ceph backend.

and then when image uploading finished, you saw it in Ceph backend or in /var/lib/glance/images/ location in glance? you can use this command to verify glance image exists in Ceph:

rbd -p images ls

2017-02-04 23:53:53 -0500 asked a question final image format is raw or Qcow2?

Hi

1.we upload an image with a raw format, 2. then select Disk format (in horizon) qcow2, till now we have a raw or qcow2 image in glance storage backend? 3.My default nova Config parameter is force_raw_images, so 1&2 does not matter and Nova creates a raw image on the compute node? if yes, what is my disk and image format (num1 &2) ? they are not important?

thanks

2017-02-04 23:50:47 -0500 commented answer Select Disk format will convert image format?

sorry I could not understand, 1.we upload an image with a raw format, 2. then select Disk format qcow2, till now we have a raw or qcow2 image in glance backend? 3.My default Config parameter is force_raw_images, so 1&2 does not matter and Nova creates a raw image on the compute node? So what is 1-2?

2017-02-04 05:32:03 -0500 commented answer Select Disk format will convert image format?

So what is format that I see when uploading an image in horizon? that is for what? and if nova use raw by default, it means even if I upload a qcow2 image in my backend I will have a raw cached image in my compute node?

2017-02-04 04:13:02 -0500 asked a question What kind of image format support when we have ceph backend?

Hi
