First check the nova scheduler logs to figureout the initial issue. Also check the connectivity between the controller and compute server.

1.Check the all nova services are running fine. 2.Connectivity check 3. Also check the quota #openstack quota show --default 4. Verify the filters in nova.conf

2017-02-21 08:33:08 -0500 commented answer Newton - Instance can't access internet

As per your error messages you missed some configuration in the neutron.conf files, Recheck all the entries as per the document . Focus on the below two files,

/etc/neutron/l3_agent.ini and /etc/neutron/dhcp_agent.ini.

2017-02-21 04:35:47 -0500 commented answer Newton - Instance can't access internet

Add the default route gateway in the instance also add the instance range in the router to accept packet flow via router. This is the issue with the default gateway issue and network configuration issue.

2017-02-21 04:17:31 -0500 answered a question Failed to launch instance: no host to cell mapping

cells are disabled by default. In nova.conf check cells section and enable it.

Also update the below settings in nova.conf

[DEFAULT] compute_api_class=nova.compute.cells_api.ComputeCellsAPI ...

[cells] cell_type= api

2017-02-21 03:57:24 -0500 answered a question Newton - Instance can't access internet

Check the default route path from the instance using #route -n command.

Also check the instance interfaces ip's are reaching from the nodes and local system. Create one floating ip and try to assign to the instance that you launched.

I am suspecting your instance is able to reach till the router after that packets are not reaching. It might be issue with your network configuration on the nodes. Your default gateway should be ping from the nodes and local system that means your network part is good and just enabling SSH is simple steps that create security group and add rule to do ssh and that will be allow SSH from the outside also.

2017-02-21 03:50:30 -0500 answered a question Packstack: Requirement for python-tinyrpc breaks installation

Even yum update also not working on nodes means there is some issue on repos. Check the repos are reaching from the nodes or not.

Also try the following,

1.dpkg -l | grep python-tinyrpc (or) dpkg -l | grep python

from the above check python-tinyrpc installed or not . Also check version of the dependency.

  1. apt-cache policy python-tinyrpc Verify the latest version of package and install on the node, apt-get install python-tinyXXXXXXXX

2016-12-12 11:13:21 -0500 answered a question Connection to neutron failed:[Errno 11] Connection refused

Check the openstack commands are running or not. Try to check nova commands.

  1. Verify the port is open or not. If firewall blocking the port use the following to open the port,

    iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 9696 -j ACCEPT

  2. Also check the following commands,

$neutron agent-list $netstat -lnpt | grep 9696

  1. If all the above is fine then restart the neutron service and try to check the network creation,

$ service neutron-server restart

  1. Try to create new network,

$openstack --debug network create test01
