possibly related: I needed to do this for Newton RDO to install via packstack on fresh CentOS 7.3, May 20 2017, so still broken in Newton. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1385291 (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug....) Fix: vi /usr/share/openstack-puppet/modules/nova/lib/puppet/provider/nova_aggregate/openstack.rb

and vi /usr/share/openstack-puppet/modules/nova/lib/puppet/provider/nova_flavor/openstack.rb

to use @credentials = Puppet::Provider::Openstack::CredentialsV3.new

from @credentials = Puppet::Provider::Openstack::CredentialsV2_0.new

Resolves the issues in CentOS 7

I had similar issue past weekend. Needed to add --os-identity-api-version 3

OS_OPTS_ADMIN="--os-auth-url \"http://${VMHost}:5000/v3\" --os-identity-api-version 3 --os-project-name admin --os-username admin --os-password \"XXXXXXXX\""
OS_OPTS_DEMOADMIN="--os-auth-url \"http://${VMHost}:5000/v3\" --os-identity-api-version 3 --os-project-name demo --os-username demo --os-password \"demo\""

I do not know the details of your setup however I am fairly certain you need to do this on all nodes before starting multinode packstack

$ sudo yum install -y centos-release-openstack-newton (or centos-release-openstack-mitaka or centos-release-openstack-liberty) $ sudo yum update -y $ sudo yum install -y openstack-packstack

https://kimizhang.wordpress.com/2015/02/12/nfs-backend-for-openstack-glancecinderinstance-store/ (https://kimizhang.wordpress.com/2015/...) I believe this will one page howto could work for you. Simply set the NFS share directory, /nfsshare, to your /dev/sdb disk, and the howto steps should just work.

I had the same issue with mitaka rdo on my hp proliant g7 with 16gb ram and 16 cpu. So I installed the same mitaka rdo on a proliant gen9 with 64gb ram. With no instances created yet and only 1 glance image, top shows 26.75GB Memory used!

top - 13:11:41 up 33 days, 23:46, 1 user, load average: 0.42, 0.42, 0.39 Tasks: 885 total, 1 running, 883 sleeping, 0 stopped, 1 zombie %Cpu(s): 1.1 us, 0.4 sy, 0.0 ni, 98.5 id, 0.0 wa, 0.0 hi, 0.0 si, 0.0 st KiB Mem : 65936020 total, 31653440 free, 26756320 used, 7526260 buff/cache KiB Swap: 33030140 total, 33030140 free, 0 used. 36537848 avail Mem

All I can deduce is that 32GB ram is needed for RDO and several small instances for acceptable performance.

That is just an opinion tho.
