2017-04-16 20:21:22 -0500 commented question Heat stack-update fail cases

I can't change networks and subnet names in my Icehouse deployment. Also if an update fails, I can't recover and have to delete the stack (stack-delete also often fails).

2017-04-07 02:17:05 -0500 asked a question Heat stack-update fail cases

Hi, I'm trying to update my stacks through stack-update, but in many cases I'm getting FAILED.

I've googled and found that there are several cases of stack-update failures. (Like updating a vm with a port results in stack-update failure)

Can someone give me a list of where stack-update is buggy (or not)? It doesn't have to be exhaustive, whatever anyone can share will be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

2017-03-30 00:19:04 -0500 asked a question Autoscaling triggered by schedule and alarm and exceeds maxsize

Hi, In my OpenStack environment I'm seeing Autoscaling create more VMs than specified in maxsize when both scheduled autoscaling and alarm autoscaling (i.e. CPU usage metering) are triggered at the same time.

I'm currently using Kilo, but does anyone know if this has been implemented in recent Openstack releases or if there is a workaround?

Thanks in advance!

Close reason is wrong, didn't know you could select a reason. The correct reason is that the question is incorrect.

2017-03-29 20:51:02 -0500 asked a question When does create/delete record in Designate take effect?

Hi, When does create record / delete record in Designate take effect? Immediately or does it require some event?

Rumor is that it isn't immediately effective in icehouse and Kilo, but I'm hoping there has been progress in the later releases.

I've been reading through Designate documents but cannot find the answer, I'm hoping someone can help me here :-) Thanks in advance.

2014-08-24 21:05:05 -0500 asked a question Create ceilometer meter using CLI

I want to create a meter in ceilometer, but there does not seem to be a CLI command for creating meters. There's only the command "sample-create", but is there a way to make samples into meters?

Thanks in advance, any advice will be helpful!

2014-08-20 21:14:09 -0500 asked a question How to create a meter using Ceilometer API

I want to create a meter using ceilometer API, and have read through the API documentation, but I'm not clear on how to write my curl statement.

What I want to do is to make a meter for cpu_util of an instance(VM) This is my try, and it does not work. I couldn't figure out how to write the json request from the information supplied in the API docs. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to specify it as a "meter" or a "sample".

 curl -i http://.../v2/meters/myMeter -X GET -H "X-Auth-Project-Id: admin" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "Accept: application/json" -H "X-Auth-Token: $TOKEN" -d '{"sample":{"user_id": null, "name": "cpu_util", "resource_id": (Server ID), "source": "openstack", "project_id": (my project ID), "type": "gauge", "unit": "instance"}}'

Help/advice is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I'm answering my own question -- I realized I used the incorrect API, now it works.

You're right, I had them confused. You follow the openstack native resources when you write HOT templates, and follow AWS compatible resources when you write cloudformation templates, right?

Hi, Is there a list of commands/parameters for writing a heat template?

The following page gives a good start, but it'd be really helpful if there was a list of parameters that you can use in a heat template. (All it says is indicate a parameter of your choice)
http://docs.openstack.org/developer/h...

Any help/advice would be appreciated, thanks!

2013-10-16 20:31:06 -0500 asked a question Seamless upgrade/update

Hi all,

Its great to see the new features coming in Havana.

I have a few anticipations about upgrading though:

  1. Are there any guides/tools to aid a smooth upgrade to a new release?
  2. Is there a way to upgrade without stopping the current system?

Any comments, advice will be appreciated! Thanks in advance.
