2017-01-12 13:32:18 -0500 asked a question how to make 1 compute node connect to 2 controller nodes?

so that I can use 1 compute as the same resource for 2 separate controller nodes?

2016-12-16 18:37:52 -0500 commented question [Cinder] CappedVersionUnknown: Unrecoverable Error: Versioned Objects in DB are capped to unknown version 1.11.

I am having the same issue. My cinder log on block storage has the same errors, and my cinder log on controller node says, "Manager for service cinder-volume is reporting problems, not sending heartbeat. Service will appear down."

2016-12-06 14:22:15 -0500 asked a question I have launched a ubuntu instance on my openstack dashboard, but how do I set it up?

os: centos 7 openstack: mitaka

I launched a ubuntu 14.04 image and it's up and running, now how do I go through the initial ubuntu setup? Is there some application that can show me the visual setup? The console on openstack dashboard seems to only go straight to CLI, I need something that can show me the visual setup.

2016-11-30 12:33:42 -0500 asked a question can't ping outside from instance

hypervisor: esxi 6.0 os: centos 7 openstack: mitaka

I can't ping 8.8.8.8 from my instance which has an ip of 10.2.2.8, although I can ping my internal networks gateway which is 192.168.15.1, and I can ping my subnet gateway, 10.2.2.1. I can't ssh into 10.2.2.8 from my internal network either.

I have created a second vswitch on vmware and connected my second ports of controller and compute to them, I have created a security group which allows egress and ingress on any ipv4 and ipv6 traffic, plus 2 additional ones that allow ingress ssh on port 22, and egress icmp traffic on every port. What am I missing?

2016-11-29 14:45:54 -0500 answered a question I can't ping from cirros to local or outside network

ok I found that I needed to connect a second physical ethernet port on my server to my switch and create a second vswitch in VMware with controller and compute in it. I still can't ping google from my cirros instance but I can ping my internal network from the instance now.

2016-11-29 13:22:50 -0500 asked a question I can't ping from cirros to local or outside network

Hypervisor - ESXi 6.0 OS - CentOS 7 Openstack: Mitaka

I am trying to ping from my cirros instance to my controller nodes ip, but it won't reach. I can't ping my floating IP from my controller node to my instance either. I have already put vSwitch0 in promiscuous mode, I have created a router on the dashboard with a gateway ip of 10.10.10.1, an SSN with 10.10.10.0/24, and a provider network which matches my internal ip scheme which is 192.168.15.0/24. My cirros instance is 10.10.10.3 with a floating IP of 192.168.15.167.

Am I missing a step? I have heard that I need to NAT it, but I don't know how to implement that. I'm a beginner at this so please include the steps if you know them, thanks in advance.

2016-10-31 17:39:22 -0500 asked a question dm-0 is full causing mysql to stop

I'm installing Mitaka on Ubuntu 14.04 and my /dev/dm-0 file which is located on root is only 4.1G and 100% full. I've tried changing the size from the vsphere menu and even tried the lvextend & resize2fs bullshit commands that never work but dm-0 is unaffected.

How do I delete some extra log files on there/and or extend the size of that volume? and please provide CLI commands if you know them, I am kind of new to ubuntu. Thank you.

2016-10-27 16:14:23 -0500 asked a question AMQP server on controller1:5672 is unreachable: timed out.

running openstack mitaka on ubuntu 14.04 with 3 nodes, controller1, compute1, block1.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The thing this error is affecting is causing my nova-compute instance to be in state down and all of my neutron services on both controller and compute node are down. I've tried restarting the services, rabbitmq, and no luck.
1 thing actually did work for me temporarily was adding this entry: "ram_allocation_ratio=3" in the default section of /etc/nova/nova.conf. I got a "Reconnected to AMQP server on controller1:5672 via [amqp] client" message in the nova log and I was able to launch an instance but after 10 minutes the errors below re-emerged.
The error I get in dashboard when trying to launch an instance is "not enough hosts available" and I know it's connected to rabbitmq's port 5672 on my controller blocking off messages from my compute node. I have tried looking at iptables and I have ran this command to try and enable this rabbit port: "iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 5672 -j ACCEPT," and that still didn't work for me.
I have tried adding cpu_allocation_ratio=16 under the default section of nova.conf to see if it was an issue if nova couldn't see my storage, but it did nothing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

tail -f /var/log/nova/nova.conf on compute1 node gives me this output:

2016-10-27 13:56:11.252 8670 ERROR oslo.messaging._drivers.impl_rabbit [req-bb092395-1187-4ec2-b5f2-10530d0e7905 - - - - -] The broker has blocked the connection: low on disk 2016-10-27 13:56:21.253 8670 ERROR oslo.messaging._drivers.impl_rabbit [req-bb092395-1187-4ec2-b5f2-10530d0e7905 - - - - -] AMQP server on controller1:5672 is unreachable: timed out. 2016-07-19 13:02:10 -0500 asked a question how to switch between controller/compute nodes?

I'm installing Openstack-mitaka on Ubuntu 14.04 on a Dell power edge using this guide: http://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/install-guide-ubuntu/environment-networking-compute.html (http://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/inst...)

I'm at the part where they switch from controller to compute node so they can add a configuration to compute node and I've googled it but I don't get an answer.

I just typed in vim admin-openrc.sh and vim keystonerc_admin and I saw that I had configured both with the same username and password but that login didn't work on horizon. Is there an extra step I need to take?

2016-07-11 01:19:43 -0500 asked a question openstack liberty horizon default login?

followed this guide up until the dashboard tab. I'm at http://my_ip/horizon and I did not configure a horizon user login and password and I don't know where the default config file that it's in. can someone point me in the right direction?
