Agree with you. I got almost the same issue some days ago, at last I changed the image, and it became OK.

2014-05-20 05:47:36 -0500 answered a question Unable to enable dhcp for network id error

From this error information: " [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/lib/neutron/dhcp/31dbd35d-0269-42ae-a08e-3112b0401acd/tmpINZEM5'", it seems that it was result by file or directory permission issues. Can you check that ?

2014-01-15 22:15:15 -0500 answered a question Glance: Successfully created image None

From I have known, 9292 is for glance, and 5000 is for keystone. I stop my glance registry service, and got your same error msg.

Please make sure your glance service has already started by using "service openstack-glance-registry status" or "service glance-registry status".

2014-01-15 21:33:58 -0500 commented answer nova service-list raises "Error setting Service.id" with nova-cell installed

No, from what I have debugged, I think it is a bug.

2014-01-15 21:30:07 -0500 answered a question I am able to Ping but not able to SSH in to the VMs

At first you must make sure the attached security group has added the ssh port(22).

Then, you can use "telnet ip_addr 22" to check if you can access ssh port, at most time, if you can access this port, means you have start the ssh service.

However, the easiest way is use "nova get-vnc-console instance_id novnc" to connect the instance, the precondition is you know the password and can log in.

2014-01-15 06:30:01 -0500 asked a question admin role can not delete instance with a non owned network

Hi guys,

I found the admin role can boot an instance with a non owned network, but can not be delete it in my env. However, change the non owned network to shared, than, the instance can be deleted. My system is centos 6.5 and the yum repo site is "http://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/openstack/openstack-havana/epel-6/".

The following are what I have did.

  1. Create a network and subnet with a non admin role account. E.g demo.
  2. Change to admin role by soure keystone_admin(rdo credential file).
  3. Boot an instance attach the former created network.
  4. After the instance status become activity, try to delete it.
  5. Use "nova list" or "nova show" to check if the instance was deleted.(In this step, I can see the instance status become activity again).

  6. Update the network to be shared.

  7. Try to delete the instance again(And this time, the instance deleted).

I don't know whether this is result by my configuration, otherwise, it maybe a bug.

Someone can help me to check if it is the same in your env ? Thanks.

What's your mean of does not work? Can you check whether vm has got an IP ? Or if it got one, you can check your tap device's tag number.

If you use cirros, you can use "nova console-log" to see the boot console log where you can check whether it got ip. And use "ovs-vsctl show" to show the tag number, but the premise is that you used the openvswitch.

I meet many network troubles in distributed env, and this link is helpful for me. http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/openstack-ops/content/network_troubleshooting.html

Yes. Thanks

2013-12-21 10:06:04 -0500 commented answer How to let rhel 6.5 support network namespace

What kind of yum repo should I use if I I'm not the redhat customer ? Is it this one "http://people.fedoraproject.org/groups/repos/openstack/ " ?

2013-12-21 10:02:58 -0500 commented question How to let rhel 6.5 support network namespace

In rhel 6.5, we don't have to update kernel, because the kernel already support it. But the preinstalled package "iproutexxxxx" don't support netns, so I use rpm -e to remove it, and download the right package from http://people.fedoraproject.org/groups/repos/openstack/openstack-grizzly/epel-6/iproute-2.6.32-130.el6ost.netns.2.src.rpm, after installed it, it support namespace now.

2013-12-21 08:03:58 -0500 commented question How to let rhel 6.5 support network namespace

I think this is for rhel 6.4, but thanks, I have got it how to let it work. I must install iproute-2.6.32-130.el6ost.netns.2.src.rpm package.

When I use 'ip netns list', it raises an error msg.

2013-12-21 00:41:19 -0500 commented answer When the internal endpoint will be used ?

Hi, dheeru, thanks for your answer. I know that the different urls have different access authority. But I don't know when or where will use those different urls. E.g, which kind of urls will be used when nova exchange messages with keystone or neutron ?

2013-12-20 22:05:23 -0500 asked a question How to let rhel 6.5 support network namespace

Dose anyone know how to let rhel 6.5 support network namespace ? Redhat said the new release rhel 6.5 are support network namespace in release note, but I found the "ip netns" relation commands are still not work.

2013-12-20 22:00:31 -0500 asked a question When the internal endpoint will be used ?

I noticed most of the connection between components are used publicURL endpoint ? But in keystone service catalog it contains three type endpoint urls, which are publicURL, internalURL and adminURL. Could I configure the components to use internalURL to communicate with each other to isolate them ? And what is the destination to contains those three type URL in service catalog ?

2013-12-14 21:42:48 -0500 answered a question Why floating IP?

It is not difficult to understand that a floating ip is needed in openstack or in some other cloud platform, just like amazon. Just think, how customers connect their vms from external network without floating ips ? How customers let their webapps can be visited without floating ips ? Just like the user in an internal network and connect external network by nat, but the user in external network can not connect the internal one if do not do the port mapping.
