2016-10-11 06:31:32 -0500 asked a question Error during Kilo installation: Command "python setup.py egg_info" failed with error code 1 in /tmp/pip-build-L_8SF4/positional

Am trying to install devstack kilo branch on ubuntu 14.04. I am running ubuntu 14.04 from live usb.

I get the following error. After each failure I have tried a couple of things and then run unstack.sh and clean.sh and tried to reinstall. But nothing works. Please help.

2016-04-19 03:32:00 -0500 answered a question devstack installation failure: Discovering versions from the identity service

I had the same problem. In my case I am installing devstack on ubuntu running inside a virtual machine and problem was HOST_IP that I set in local.conf file which is used by the installation script.

HOST_IP should be same as one of IP interface addr configured on the host machine. So for me it worked when I set HOST_IP to 192.168.122.1 as my IP config on VM looked like

aamir@OpenStackDesk:~/openstack/devstack$ ip ad sh

2016-04-18 15:17:08 -0500 answered a question Devstack installation failure

Hi all,

I just started working on some cloud stuff and following a tutorial (https://isurues.wordpress.com/2013/06/01/how-to-run-your-own-cloud-on-a-pc-using-openstack-on-ubuntu-12-04/ (https://isurues.wordpress.com/2013/06...)) I attempted to install devstack on ubuntu 14.04 LTS running inside VirtualBox.

I see the same error as reported here. I am running from master branch from following commit a344608ca9c5a.

Following the tutorial and the links provide therein I created following local.conf file.

[[local|localrc]]
DEST=/opt/stack

ADMIN_PASSWORD=secret
DATABASE_PASSWORD=$ADMIN_PASSWORD
RABBIT_PASSWORD=$ADMIN_PASSWORD
SERVICE_PASSWORD=$ADMIN_PASSWORD

HOST_IP=192.168.0.10

LOGFILE=$dest/logs/stack.sh.log

LOGDAYS=2

I also made following change which I thought, according to one post on some other forum, would fix the issue but it didnt

                                                        '.secret_key_store'))

And I can't find the damn coulds.yaml file in my setup. There is no openstack directory created under ~/.config. Are there any othre hints on what I should try???? Please, appreciate any help.
