2016-05-18 11:14:44 -0500 asked a question Configuring Middleware in Devstack

Hey! In my devstack environment, I want to configure glance service to use Keystone; running on another machine. For this, I added below lines in glance-registry.conf file. Basically, I change auth_url from a.b.c.d to x.y.z.l.

password = 22
username = glance
auth_url = http://x.y.z.l:35357
auth_plugin = password
identity_uri = http://x.y.z.l:35357
admin_tenant_name = %SERVICE_TENANT_NAME%
admin_user = %SERVICE_USER%
admin_password = %SERVICE_PASSWORD%

But when I run openstack --debug --os-auth-url http://x.y.z.l:35357 --os-project-name admin --os-username admin --os-auth-type password image list then it gives me Unauthorized error.

Please tell me what I am missing?

2016-03-10 04:28:55 -0500 asked a question Monitoring Keystone Service and get notification

Hi,

I am trying to monitor Keystone and receive http notification upon increase in RPS from a certain threshold. I searched different Openstack monitoring tools and finally considered Nagios and Ceilometer to give a try.

Upto my knowledge, Ceilometer is unable to monitor Rps coming to Keystone as has a well defined list of meters like identity.authentication.sucess etc.

Coming to Nagios, Though it can monitor Keystone and keep a count for Rps but sending http notification is a problem/tricky for a newbie like me.

Does anyone has a better idea of some monitoring tool which could notify me when Rps on Keystone increase from a certain threshold?? Or tell me any easily understandable approach to send http notifications in Nagios.

Thanks

Hi,

I am trying to monitor Keystone using Ceilometer. In docs, below is the standard way to set alarm for a resource. But what if I want to monitor the Keystone? From which value I should replace 'resource_Id' with?

ceilometer alarm-threshold-create --name cpu_hi \ --description 'instance running hot' \ --meter-name cpu_util --threshold 70.0 \ --comparison-operator gt --statistic avg \ --period 600 --evaluation-periods 3 \ --alarm-action 'log://' \ --query resource_id=INSTANCE_ID

2016-02-19 02:14:15 -0500 asked a question Keystone install Kilo: db_sync incomplete

I am trying to install Keystone kilo release in VM. I have noticed that, "su -s /bin/sh -c "keystone-manage db_sync" keystone" command only creates 16 tables while in normal scenario there should be 32 i guess. Can someone guid me in this respect?

2016-02-18 12:47:47 -0500 asked a question Devstack: Horizon configuration

Hi,

I have installed devstack in one VM and keystone in the other. Now, I just want to configure dash-board in devstack to use keystone which is installed on another machine(VM). For this, I changed /opt/stack/horizon/openstack_dashboard/local/local_settings.py and replaced IP like below,

"KEYSTONE_AUTH_URL=http://IP_OF_KEYSTONE_MACHINE:5000/v2"

I restarted apache2, reboot the machine and rejoined the stack but still when I open horizon in browser it fetches data from the local machine despite of following the updated URL. Does anybody has a better idea? Or please correct me where I am lacking.

Thanks

2016-02-18 10:25:24 -0500 answered a question CREDENTIAL error in devstack kilo

I think I have messed up with some screens. I remember running "screen -U -S stack" for restarting my screen. When I rejoined I noticed some errors and red lines in cinder-volume. In short, due to some corrupt code I was unable to made request and getting "wrong username/ password error 404 reqID-[someID]".

2016-02-17 14:48:10 -0500 asked a question CREDENTIAL error in devstack kilo

Hi,

I am trapped in a strange situation. I installed devstack kilo in ubuntu14.04LTS successfully. Initially it was working fine but when I restarted my VM, ran ./rejoin-stack.sh and sourced openrc admin admin; then this returns me 401 or 404 error which means that authentication failure. But surprisingly i can login through horizon using same credentials but on command line it generates error. WHYY????

Thanks

while the ip of my machine is 172.16.11.82. I rechecked my configuration from manual, everything is followed perfectly. I am new to this stuff, so please help me in resolving this issue. Is (HTTP 500) is because of the ip ? I searched for the related answers but that were related to mysql or .conf, while I think I have issue in Apache.
