I want to attach volumes to an existing instance created by heat (just like "nova volume-attach"). However, the documentation says updates to block_device_mapping_v2 cause replacement. Is it possible to do this using heat without re-creating the instance?

Thanks for your answer. I was looking for something like scheduler_hints. It's fine to know there isn't.

I've created several host aggregates and want to boot an instance on one of them. I searched the web and was told to add metadata to aggregates and key to flavor. But this requires a flavor to be created for every aggregate. Can I specify the host aggregate for instances? Also, is it possible using heat?

Thanks for you answer. These links talks about network quota and underlay limits. But is there a hard limit by the neutron itself?

I'm using kilo with ml2 ovs plugin. Although VxLAN is supported, I see it's being translated to local VLANs on br-int. So each network have to be associated with a different VLAN id on network node in order to have L3 gateway and DHCP enabled? Will this limit the number of networks to 4k and how to scale out? Thanks!

2015-11-17 00:55:29 -0600 asked a question How to set MTU of tap interfaces?

I'm using kilo under ubuntu14.04-server, ML2 OVS plugin and vxlan setup. And trying to enable jubmo frames for instances. I've set the parameters in ml2_conf.ini:

[ml2]
...
path_mtu = 9000
segment_mtu = 9000
...
[agent]
tunnel_types = vxlan
veth_mtu = 9000

I've also changed the MTU of physical tunnel source interfaces on all hosts. I created a network and the MTU is correct(8950). But when launching instances, the tap interfaces attached to br-int still has MTU 1500. After setting it to 8950, everything works fine. So could I assume that the MTU value isn't passed to libvirt? Is there any way to enable it? Thanks.
