2016-12-08 05:09:35 -0600 answered a question Fedora22, Liberty, horizon VNC console and keymap=sv with ; and/

I assume you're using the nova novnc proxy. The keymap used there is the keymap installed by the vm. Cloud images are quite stripped down, and, for example, Fedora cloud images are missing localization.

2016-12-08 05:07:19 -0600 answered a question how to deploy haskell-distributed in RDO?

There is no haskell-distributed in RDO. RDO is a distribution of OpenStack. It enables you to launch as many vms as you want (give sufficient hardware resources).

2016-05-24 06:04:11 -0600 answered a question how to add extra web page for horizon for manage such as user registration page?

Simple answer: look at django, there are even apps to handle user registration, like django-registration.

please set up memcached for session store, esp. make sure, you have the following in your /etc/openstack-dashboard/local_settings

    'default': {
        'BACKEND': 'django.core.cache.backends.memcached.MemcachedCache',

You should restart your neutron server.

2016-03-01 01:15:42 -0600 answered a question Create a new dashboard Error

IIRC, that code for creating a new dashboard is has been broken around that time. Nobody really uses it, that's the main issue, so we (Horizon upstream) don't get a feedback on this, sorry. You may have better luck with using '--dashboard=<dash-python-path>'

as well.

2016-02-24 02:10:24 -0600 answered a question Error: Unable to retrieve volume limit information.

I believe, you're talking of Liberty version, is that correct? Do you have a error log ready and shared it somewhere?

there is no need to pick a private network when launching an instance.

Basically, you can use any credentials provided from keystone to log into horizon.

To did a bit deeper, you need to provide more info.

2016-01-12 03:53:50 -0600 answered a question Abnormal resource consumption in RDO environment.

There are quite a lot daemons running. My current setup with 11 (more or less small instances runing) takes about 17 Gigs of RAM. OpenStack is intended to scale across multiple machine over your data center.

Nevertheless, please provide more insight on your memory usage. top is your friend here, sorting by memory is invoked by hitting 'M'

2016-01-12 03:48:40 -0600 answered a question How to configure the RDO Dashboard for SSL

You should be adding another port to /etc/httpd/conf.d/15-horizon_vhost.conf

There is currently only port 80 mentioned. My recommendation would be to change that to 443 and to add a simple landing page to redirect a user from / to https://..../dashboard

2016-01-12 03:45:18 -0600 answered a question Internal Server Error when access horizon kilo

Unfortunately, that log doesn't help here.

Which version are you using? Kilo, liberty? Make sure you updated to latest, and make sure you have all required dependencies in place. They should be set up, if you installed from rdo repositories.

2015-06-18 01:19:50 -0600 answered a question New Kilo instance launch dialogue stays white after activation

New launch instance is known to be broken in liberty and in kilo.

Devs are working on this.

It's not working, if you installed Horizon under http://.../dashboard (in fact it requires to be installed in webserver root), and e.g. creating a volume while launching an instance fails, too.

2015-01-11 07:01:13 -0600 answered a question icehouse on fedora21

OpenStack Icehouse release is directly included in Fedora 21. No need to use an additioanl repository, like RDO.

2014-12-06 06:40:24 -0600 commented answer All the IPs are redirecting to openstack dashboard ?

your vms primarily get an internal IP; you can assign an additional IP, so called floating ip. this floating IP will be the IP to reach the vm from outside.

This question has nothing to do with the dashboard, which is my main project.

I haven't seen such an addition yet, but there was a demo of a tool visualizing network trafic of instances back at Atlanta summit.

2014-12-02 01:45:31 -0600 answered a question All the IPs are redirecting to openstack dashboard ?

Could you please explain, what you mean by redirecting to openstack dashboard?

OpenStack Dashboard is the Dashboard component of OpenStack. You can use OpenStack without installing the Dashboard at all.

I assume, you meant something completely different.

By design, Dashboard shows services listed in keystone catalog. Esp. make sure, you did

keystone endpoint-create --service sahara --region RegionOne \
    --publicurl "" \

2014-05-14 05:41:21 -0600 commented question Failure login to Dashboard on F20 Havana Controller after recent firefox update up to 29.0-5

if your assumption is true, that it has something to do with an upgrade of firefox, do a yum downgrade firefox. in that case, you couldn't speak to other cloud environments running Havana.

ALLOWED_HOSTS is the most made common mistake, I've seen, when installing via upstream docs.

Is this case solved for you or shall we debug it any further?

those bz mentioned, have nothing to do with the described issue, which is completely unclear, because of missing log files.

Artwork is provided by openstack-dashboard-theme subpackage. yum remove it and you'll get a upstream theme.

2014-04-07 01:40:21 -0600 answered a question Packstack install fails w/ NeutronOVS python import error

2014-03-18 09:36:32 -0600 answered a question after login to the openstack GUI I get an error

Ok, it looks like the logging options are not enabled then.

Did it work for you at any time? If yes, then I'd suspect, a service died.

Please check, that services are running. I see often, neutron claims to run, but it just failed. Restarting neutron-server often helps.

If it hasn't worked for you at all, please double check your installation and config. Esp. please take a look at the ALLOWED_HOSTS setting, with should contain the dns name of your dashboard webserver (in best case long and short form). That's a frequent error made.

2014-02-28 08:40:20 -0600 answered a question Process to get UI plugins approved?

For all additions: keep in mind, OpenStack is licensed under Apache Software license 2.0. If that's ok for the author, it's ok for us. (We usually change source code, for artistic work, this is sometimes not wanted by the contributor). When in doubt, please consult a lawyer and/or raise the issue at the mailing-list openstack-dev@....

2014-02-27 07:20:37 -0600 answered a question Process to get UI plugins approved?

That was included, because a developer simply copied that to the horizon source tree and two core developers accepted that.

2014-01-23 05:52:01 -0600 answered a question OpenStack outage / maintenance page

The hammer method: switch off httpd, you could move the dashboard temporarily to a different location on your webserver: (in /etc/httpd/conf.d/openstack-dashboard.conf) is the location defined, as well as in /usr/share/openstack-dashboard/openstack_dashboard/ the variable to look for is WEBROOT.

(Hint: They should match in both config files) and I'd create a maintenance page to be shown at <horizon host="">/dashboard as well.

You didn't answer the question: Do you use two separate installations, i.e. two keystones etc...?

I'm afraid, there is no option to "merge" two OpenStack clusters in one (if that's the question).
