If you also want to update that with ip and mac addresses pairs then:

neutron port-update pt_mgmt_interface --allowed_address_pairs type=dict list=true ip_address=172.16.3.62,mac_address=fa:16:3e:67:9b:d7 ip_address=172.16.3.62,mac_address=fa:16:3e:ab:85:53

your devstack directory does not the proper permission to touch the file, one should give the permission to the devstack dir and you problem gets resolved.

2016-09-22 14:13:30 -0500 answered a question [neutron] what is difference between agents and plugins

In a simple way Agent is a process that runs on difference hosts and communicates through some RPC calls with other process where as plugin is is just a peace of static software files(not a process) and implements all the apis that are required to communicate to the corresponding agent and they usually run in some process's context. Ex: Layer 2 plugin runs in the context of neutron server to communicate with the Layer 2 agent.

Basically the plugin and agents concept has much flexibility, like if you want to have or add some extra functionality, without changing the existing system then just add the plugin to the existing system by which you can talk to your agent.

2016-03-14 00:22:10 -0500 answered a question Defining default user-password for Ubuntu Cloud image

Adding a bit more to dudeofthestick's answer. Yes you should remove the "/" from there( while publishing the answer, having # in front of any line makes it bold so to suppress it he used the / infront )

cat > my-user-data <<eof< p="">

#cloud-config

password: mysecret

chpasswd: { expire: False }

ssh_pwauth: True

EOF

Once that is done launch the VM using

kvm -net nic -net user -hda disk.qcow2 -hdb my-user-data -m 512

Now login with myscreat as password and create your own user( as to login with default user all the time, we have to seed the mysecret all the time ) and set the password for that user. Now every time you login you can login through the user you have added.

2015-08-14 02:11:32 -0500 answered a question Can't create instance, no valid host was found, nova-compute is not running

It is mostly because you don't have the resources properly. Always try to use the small images rather than big ones and select the flavor m1.nano, m1.tiny( again it depends on how much ram and swap memories are available, In my case my swap space used to be 100% utilized and ram used to be 83% to 87% ). Don't go for flavors like medium, large, etc.., which causes the errors like what you mentioned.
