2016-11-03 15:58:09 -0600 edited answer Horizon not connecting to correct keystone address to retrieve users

Do keystone endpoint-list from the command line. Most probably you have used localhost as public/internal/admin url when configuring endpoints in the catalog for identity

2015-09-25 05:22:29 -0600 answered a question Is it possible to create instance with multiple SSH keys?

It is possible via cloud-init for images that support it. In Horizon, you'd feed the following as a user-script (you can do the same via nova boot CLI):

#cloud-config
ssh_authorized_keys:
    - ssh-rsa AAAAB3NzaC1yc2EAAAABIwAAAGEA3FSyQwBI6Z+nCSjUUk8EEAnnkhXlukKoUPND/RRClWz2s5TCzIkd3Ou5+Cyz71X0XmazM3l5WgeErvtIwQMyT1KjNoMhoJMrJnWqQPOt5Q8zWd9qG7PBl9+eiH5qV7NZ mykey@host
    - ssh-rsa AAAAB3NzaC1yc2EAAAABIwAAAQEA3I7VUf2l5gSn5uavROsc5HRDpZdQueUq5ozemNSj8T7enqKHOEaFoU2VoPgGEWC9RyzSQVeyD6s7APMcE82EtmW4skVEgEGSbDc1pvxzxtchBj78hJP6Cf5TCMFSXw+Fz5rF1dR23QDbN1mkHs7adr8GW4kSWqU7Q7NDwfIrJJtO7Hi42GyXtvEONHbiRPOe8stqUly7MvUoN+5kfjBM8Qqpfl2+FNhTYWpMfYdPUnE7u536WqzFmsaqJctz3gBxH9Ex7dFtrxR4qiqEr9Qtlu3xGn7Bw07/+i1D+ey3ONkZLN+LQ714cgj8fRS4Hj29SCmXp5Kt5/82cD/VN3NtHw== smoser@brickies

You can set as many keys as you wish, they would all apply to the default user (e.g. ubuntu).

To set it via CLI, save the cloud-config script to a ~/user-data.txt file and use: nova boot --user-data ~/user-data.txt [...]

All you can do with #cloud-init: https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~cloud-i...

2015-08-25 21:31:43 -0600 answered a question How can I setup an openstack keystone with multi region support

A common way to configure a multi-region OpenStack cloud is to set up one Keystone. There is no easy/direct way to have more Keystones cache/store tokens, although there is a thing called "keystone federation", which basically lets you authenticate users to Keystone (and obtain a token) by "asking" another Keystone whether credentials are valid. I don't think tokens are shared in that case, every Keystone manages their own tokens.

Anyway, what you probably want to do is to have just one Keystone shared by all regions and add multiple services/endpoints with distinctive regions to its catalog. This question has also been answered a few times, e.g. take a look at: https://ask.openstack.org/en/question...

2015-08-24 12:18:02 -0600 commented answer [Horizon] unable to view vnc console in <iframe> with SSL

Thanks for the comment, I updated my answer

2015-08-24 12:17:46 -0600 edited answer [Horizon] unable to view vnc console in <iframe> with SSL

Add the following in /etc/nova/nova.conf (in the [DEFAULT] block) to enable SSL for VNC proxy (port 6080):

# novnc proxy
ssl_only=true
cert=/etc/nova/ssl/cloud-cert.pem
key=/etc/nova/ssl/cloud-key.pem

Obviously, tune path to cert and key.

Then, change novncproxy_base_url in the same file to start with https://

The novncproxy_base_url is set on compute nodes, while cert/key on the nova-novncproxy host.

Restart nova-novncproxy, that's it!

I just found an answer for this:

Set (time in seconds):

reclaim_instance_interval=86400

in /etc/nova/nova.conf on the controller and compute nodes and restart nova-api / nova-compute.

2015-08-19 14:18:04 -0600 answered a question Host aggregate - can it grow dynamically?

1) Yes, when you create a host-aggregate, you put that in an availability zone. It could be the default "nova" availability zone (which always exists if you don't create your own). You can read more on that at https://www.mirantis.com/blog/segrega...

2) Host aggregates don't automatically grow - they consist of physical nodes. If you can provision those automatically, then you can probably automate adding them to Host Aggregate.

2014-01-27 11:45:14 -0600 commented question RDO: Glance does not save properties of images

It was initialized today.

2014-01-27 09:38:56 -0600 asked a question RDO: Glance does not save properties of images

On the stable release of Havana installed through RDO, when I create images, their properties (disk_format, container_format, is_public) are lost even when set (they must be set, otherwise glance-api wouldn't accept the request).

However, they are not saved to the database. When I modify database manually, they are visible correctly, but it is still not possible to modify them through Glance.

Do you have any idea if that might be some configuration error or maybe a bug?

2014-01-27 09:35:55 -0600 answered a question Uncompatibility of openstack-havana projects with python six library

It is a known bug but it doesn't prevent any part of OpenStack from running correctly as far as I found out. In other words, it's most probably not the cause of your problem.

2014-01-23 18:44:14 -0600 marked best answer How to use SPICE console on Havana?

How to setup SPICE console in addition to noVNC? There seem to exist packages like nova-spiceproxy but I couldn't find any documentation on it besides this. It doesn't give any helpful clues though.

2014-01-23 18:44:04 -0600 marked best answer How to use SOFT DELETE (deferred delete)

Nova client provides an option to restore (nova restore) an instance that is in soft delete state.

However, I couldn't find a way to put the instance into that state - my instances are immediately deleted.

How to set this up?

2014-01-21 08:48:39 -0600 asked a question Installing Heat on RDO - dependency error

I am installing Heat service according to the guide from RDO website: http://openstack.redhat.com/Deploy_He...

All packages install fine except for the last one: openstack-heat-templates. The package it depends on is just not in any repositories (CentOS, EPEL or OpenStack Havana RDO).

Error: Package: openstack-heat-templates-0-0.1.20140106git.el6.noarch (openstack-havana)
