2018-06-16 05:20:20 -0500 asked a question Triple0 RHOSP10: openstack baremetal import --json ~/instackenv.json stuck

Hi, Trying to deploy a RHOSP10 deployment using VMs, I get stucked in the import phase. I successfully deployed the undercloud node (director).

My instackenv.json file is:

   [stack@undercloud ~]$ jq . << EOF > ~/instackenv.json
{
  "ssh-user": "stack",
  "ssh-key": "$(cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa)",
  "power_manager": "nova.virt.baremetal.virtual_power_driver.VirtualPowerManager",
  "host-ip": "192.168.122.1",
  "arch": "x86_64",
  "nodes": [
    {
      "pm_addr": "192.168.122.1",
      "pm_password": "$(cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa)",
      "pm_type": "pxe_ssh",
      "mac": [
        "$(sed -n 1p /tmp/nodes.txt)"
      ],
      "cpu": "2",
      "memory": "4096",
      "disk": "60",
      "arch": "x86_64",
      "pm_user": "stack"
    },
    {
      "pm_addr": "192.168.122.1",
      "pm_password": "$(cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa)",
      "pm_type": "pxe_ssh",
      "mac": [
        "$(sed -n 2p /tmp/nodes.txt)"
      ],
      "cpu": "4",
      "memory": "2048",
      "disk": "60",
      "arch": "x86_64",
      "pm_user": "stack"
    },
    {
      "pm_addr": "192.168.122.1",
      "pm_password": "$(cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa)",
      "pm_type": "pxe_ssh",
      "mac": [
        "$(sed -n 3p /tmp/nodes.txt)"
      ],
      "cpu": "4",
      "memory": "2048",
      "disk": "60",
      "arch": "x86_64",
      "pm_user": "stack"
    }
  ]
}
EOF

Then, when I try to launch the import, I obtain the following:

[stack@ospd ~]$ openstack baremetal import --json ~/instackenv.json

Any clue?

Thanks about that! I will definitely look if tuning timeout of RabbitMQ fixes it (it is happening again after a while).

It is working!

So restarting the process solved the issue. Still, it's not clear to me why this happened.

2018-06-10 02:48:51 -0500 asked a question RHOSP10 (Newton) - Gateway Timeout (HTTP 504)

Hi all, I am trying to install Red Hat OpenStack on my private laptop using VMs and custom networking. I actually tried to follow this guide.

I got stucked in importing the overcloud images:

[stack@ospd ~]$ openstack overcloud image upload --image-path /home/stack/images/
Discovering versions from the identity service failed when creating the password plugin. Attempting to determine version from URL.
Gateway Timeout (HTTP 504)

Also neutron is not giving me replies:

[stack@ospd ~]$ neutron subnet-list Discovering versions from the identity service failed when creating the password plugin. Attempting to determine version from URL. Gateway Timeout (HTTP 504)

What's going wrong ? It seems like I have some internal networking issue.

Hi all,

I am trying to launch a Red Hat OpenStack installation by following the steps on https://keithtenzer.com/2017/04/20/re...

The undercloud is deployed on a single VM created by virt-manager (I am using Ubuntu). OpenStack roles would be then deployed on other VMs. I am running this on my Laptop with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. The Undercloud VM is using RHEL7.3 and 2vCPUs, 4GB RAM and 2 virtual NICs.

I've been able to complete all preparation steps like:

  1. Istantiation of networks
  2. Creation of nodes

When trying to launch the installation I obtain the following output:

[stack@ospd ~]$ openstack undercloud install

Command 'instack-install-undercloud' returned non-zero exit status 1

I checked the undercloud.conf file I previously created:

[DEFAULT]
 local_ip = 192.168.126.1/24
 undercloud_public_vip = 192.168.126.2
 undercloud_admin_vip = 192.168.126.3
 local_interface = eth1
 masquerade_network = 192.168.126.0/24
 dhcp_start = 192.168.126.100
 dhcp_end = 192.168.126.150
 network_cidr = 192.168.126.0/24
 network_gateway = 192.168.126.1
 inspection_iprange = 192.168.126.130,192.168.126.99
 generate_service_certificate = true
 certificate_generation_ca = local

This seems actually fine to me. Where this IPAddress() is coming from ? Thank you in advance for helping!

Have you considered that from Kilo release the keystone service is disabled ?

In Kilo and Liberty releases, the keystone project deprecates eventlet in favor of a separate web server with WSGI extensions. This guide uses the Apache HTTP server with mod_wsgi to serve Identity service requests on port 5000 and 35357. By default, the keystone service still listens on ports 5000 and 35357. Therefore, this guide disables the keystone service. The keystone project plans to remove eventlet support in Mitaka. Source

Please check /etc/neutron/plugins/ml2/ml2_conf.ini file, in the [securitygroup]section.

Go to firewall_driverentry.

Correct value for Ubuntu 12/14 - Icehouse should be:

firewall_driver = neutron.agent.linux.iptables_firewall.OVSHybridIptablesFirewallDriver

2015-11-23 09:39:06 -0500 answered a question eclipse IDE on an instance

How are you accessing Eclipse ? Via X11 Forwarding? Please, be more specific.

Otherwise, have you considered using Eclipse on your local machine and accessing editable files via ssh ? This seems to fit: Remote System Explorer (SSH, Telnet, FTP and DStore protocols)

Simple question: Why did they introduce Chrony software into OpenStack Liberty ?

What was wrong with the ntp package of previous versions ?

In general, associated floating IPs should remain as is till a a Disassociate command is launched. Are you referring to a specific context ?

2015-11-19 06:54:13 -0500 asked a question OpenStack ODL (with VXLan) -> br-int only ?

Hello everybody,

I have a setup with OpenStack Kilo with the following nodes:

  • "controller" (Controller Node)
  • "odl-controller" (OpenDayLight Node)
  • "compute2" (one compute node)
  • "compute3" (another compute node)
  • "network" (network node)

All of them run Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with default OpenStack installation + default OpenDayLight Installation. I followed the wiki and everything went smooth. Then I createad a VM on compute2 and another VM on compute3. Then, I went into compute2 console and I typed:

ovs-vsctl show

and the result is

root@compute2:~# ovs-vsctl show
21624d5f-499c-487a-b7c5-90ef48c3d9e5
    Manager "tcp:10.0.0.91:6633"
    Bridge br-int
        Controller "tcp:10.0.0.91:6633"
            is_connected: true
        fail_mode: secure
        Port br-int
            Interface br-int
        Port "tap91e68e7c-75"
            Interface "tap91e68e7c-75"
    ovs_version: "2.3.2"

Now I am wondering: why there is "br-int" bridge only ? I was supposing to find also "br-tun" or at least another bridge. Is this normal ? What am I doing wrong ?

This is also happening to me. In my case, this is happening just with the admin assigning a Istance to the external network. If the demo tenant create the istance on the private network, no errors appear. If somebody has some hint on this, it would be extremely useful.
