apipa config set this route disable it by editing /etc/sysconfig/network and append NOZEROCONF=yes

eth1 on compute nodes and controller node shoud have ip address of any private network range of your choise please see link text and eth0 should be in promiscuous mode and you must set the newly created br-ex interface to have the IP address that formerly belonged to eth0 please see link text

what about adding the rule in input chain directly instead of adding it to nova chains

iptables -A INPUT -i br100 -p tcp -m tcp -j ACCEPT

2013-09-17 15:46:01 -0500 asked a question can i use gre tunneling with provider network on quantum ?

i want public routable ips to be assigned to instances nics i have ovs setup with gre tunnels my current working config is Per-tenant Routers with Private Networks and using l3 agent providing floating ips which floating resides on my company private ip range and i do natting on my firewall to make the instance public routable.

-if i added network interface to the network node (i have controller and network node on the same machine) connecting it directly to public network can i use provider network with GRE tunneling to map it to public network and make tenants use this network i dont have switches that supports VLANs

guidelines will be very appreciated like what need to be done on physical network and quantum configs i have a working deployment already if the new config will work side by side with the current config it will be great.

2013-09-06 19:42:59 -0500 answered a question Accessing instances inside a proxy via VPN

i understand that you restricted access to your unviersity network where is your cloud ensute that these confige at nova.conf

novncproxy_base_url=http://public-ip:6080/vnc_auto.html

replace the public ip with your cloud domain name or public ip as you can port 6080 is necessary for this communication

there is also cloud pip vpn for accessing tenants network http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/openstack-compute/admin/content/cloudpipe-per-project-vpns.html but you have to open vpn ports also

2013-07-22 16:10:58 -0500 answered a question Non-Ubuntu Images from VirtualBox not running correctly

the only issue that we had with centos images was it couldn't communicate meta data service , so we could not access the instance with ssh keys if that your issue to try to disable apipa by doing

vi /etc/sysconfig/network

Append the following directive: NOZEROCONF=yes

re upload your image it should communicate with meta service as expected and get instance information hostname and ssh keys
