2015-12-03 12:20:03 -0500 answered a question Keystone port 5000 used by Python

OpenStack Kilo release the keystone project deprecates Eventlet in favor of a WSGI server. In Kilo release the Apache HTTP server with mod_wsgi to serve keystone requests on ports 5000 and 35357. By default, the keystone service still listens on ports 5000 and 35357. Therefore, this guide disables the keystone service.

To make this happen Openstack documentation recommends you to disable Keystone service which essentially uses python. echo "manual" > /etc/init/keystone.override then install keystone components which includes keystone python-openstackclient apache2 libapache2-mod-wsgi memcached python-memcache

If there are process from keystone using python then 1. kill those processes 2. disable keystone 3. restart the apache service.

It should work

2015-10-22 08:27:17 -0500 answered a question Horizon Apache launch error

Is your problem solved? there are couple steps that were missing in the document that you need to complete.

following steps were missing 2. Set up a web server with WSGI support. It is optional but recommended in production deployments. For example, install Apache web server on Ubuntu:

sudo apt-get install apache2 libapache2-mod-wsgi - completed

  1. generate an /etc/openstack_dashboard/wsgi/horizon.wsgi file using the following command /usr/share/openstack-dashboard/manage.py make_web_conf --wsgi

  2. create /etc/apache2/sites-available/horizon.conf file using . /usr/share/openstack-dashboard/manage.py make_web_conf --apache > /etc/apache2/sites-available/horizon.conf

  3. Finally we need to start apache2 and memcached services

then launch horizon from any web browser

Hope this helps

Resolved the issue. very simple.

Checked nova service-list controller node

nova-compute is not up and running, restart the service on the compute node

checked the availability fo the services on controllers node

re executed the nova after nova delete <new server="" id="">

nova boot .....

worked just fine.

Third question, on the compute node, you have IP address 192.169.142.137, to which ethernet interface you have assigned this IP address, is it for eth0 or eth1? if it is eth0 (i am assuming) then what is ip address you have assigned for eth1?

2015-06-02 06:35:31 -0500 commented answer cannot ping 203.0.113.101

second question is in your architectural diagram, i see on compute, you have configured 172.24.4.228 as a public IP address. to which interface you assigned this IP?

Thanks dbaaxps, I have reading this pictorial representation for your setup. I have couple of couple questions. 1. If my gateway of external network which can access http://openstack.org is 192.168.1.1, I should use 192.168.1xxx in place of 203.0.113.xxx, is my understanding correct?

2015-05-30 18:05:05 -0500 asked a question br-ex configuration on ubuntu

In this document, it appears that it is necessary to configure br-ex in the /etc/network/interfaces file.

This is how we configured /etc/network/interfaces file on network node in 3 node configuration.

on network node

auto br-ex
 iface br-ex inet static
 address 203.0.113.101
 netmask 255.255.255.0
 gateway 203.0.113.1
 dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8

but I am not able to ping 203.0.113.1 which is the gateway. Something is not right.

as br-ex interface connected to external network which in this case eth2 which is connected to router having internet access the gateway for this connection 192.168.1.1

Can somebody guide in this.

Thanks Arun

I am installing opensatck Juno release on three nodes (Controller, compute and network node) all of the nodes have access to internet and uses 192.168.1.1 gateway to access internet.

Having said that, can i use 192.168.1.1 as tenant gateway, which is associated with tenant subnet?
