2015-05-04 10:40:39 -0500 asked a question Overcloud deployment on VM fails as IP address from DHCP is not assigned

Hi,

I have used 'instack-virt-setup' for deploying RDO on a Virtual Machine Environment using In-stack.

As a result, 5 VM's are created successfully and I'm able to deploy fedora-20_x86_64.qcow2 as under-cloud image on a VM called "instack".

From under-cloud dashboard, auto discovery is also getting completed successfully.

But, while trying to deploy over-cloud compute and controller node, the under-cloud VM's are not getting DHCP IP address from under-cloud.

Hence, over-cloud deployment is getting failed.

I need to locate the code from the source-code of OpenStack that is doing the register operation of nodes...

When we are using the Dashboard for undercloud, before we go for overcloud deployment we do register the nodes. When this registration is happening through GUI-Dashboard, in the background what will happen and where the data is stored regarding the details we give in that register node?

  • How to identify the source code which is doing this infotmation saving in the database ?

  • Where it will be saved ??

Thanks in advance !!

2015-04-25 22:11:34 -0500 asked a question What details actually should be in the " instackenv.json " file during Instack-Overcloud deployment in a VM ??

Hi all,

I am new to OpenStack and I am trying to setup OpenStack using Instack. I have Setup the "Undercloud" environment in BAREMETAL and I am proceeding to Overcloud Deployment using a VM.

I am using this link . (https://www.rdoproject.org/Deploying_an_RDO_Overcloud_with_Instack (https://www.rdoproject.org/Deploying_...))

During this process, I am struck at the parameters required in instackenv.json file. There are few parameters required in it,

  1. I want to know the exact purpose of each parameter in that file and where to look for it.
  2. What are the mandatory parameters in it ?

     {
          "nodes": [
            {
              "pm_password": "ipmi password goes here",
              "pm_type": "pxe_ipmitool",
              "mac": [
                "mac address of nic that will handle pxe boot goes here"
              ],
              "cpu": "4",
              "memory": "32768",
              "disk": "900",
              "arch": "x86_64",
              "pm_user": "ipmi username goes here",
              "pm_addr": "ipmi ip address goes here"
            },
            {
              "pm_password": "ipmi password goes here",
              "pm_type": "pxe_ipmitool",
              "mac": [
                "mac address of nic that will handle pxe boot goes here"
              ],
              "cpu": "4",
              "memory": "32768",
              "disk": "900",
              "arch": "x86_64",
              "pm_user": "ipmi username goes here",
              "pm_addr": "ipmi ip address goes here"
            }
          ]
        }

Thanks in advance !!
