2016-08-31 08:06:21 -0500 answered a question Openstack kilo can't resize instance down

This can be achieved using cinder volumes and creating flavors without rootdisk size i.e rootdisk size should be 0 in the flavor, then you can upsize/downsize your VM CPU and RAM.

2016-07-14 08:20:12 -0500 asked a question Cinder behaving awkwardly.

I have set the volume quota of a project to 20GB and consumed that much of storage, now using the admin credentials when I changed the volume quota to 3GB it got changed without any error or warning. Why is cinder behaving awkwardly, for other quota like CPuu, RAM etc if it is being used and you downsize the quota it throws an error, it should be same for cinder too.

Create another ext-net as ext-net2 and provide the subnet that you want i.e 192.168.2.0/24 then you should be able to assign floating ips from this subnet as well to your tenants.

Are you using the Kilo version, if so it does happen so in this case you need to comment the ports in the apache wsgi you created if you want to use keystone as a service, else stop keystone service and restart httpd.

2016-04-06 02:44:36 -0500 answered a question resize instance

Allow password less ssh communication between your compute nodes. The problem should be resolved. **

  1. cat /etc/passwd | grep nova (check if the userid in all the compute are same.)
  2. Modify user nova: usermod -s /bin/bash nova

Generate ssh key for nova user 3. su - nova 4. ssh-keygen -t rsa -bash-4.2$ cat << EOF > ~/.ssh/config Host * StrictHostKeyChecking no UserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null EOF

-bash-4.2$ cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub > .ssh/authorized_keys -bash-4.2$ chmod 600 .ssh/authorized_keys

Then scp the files in .ssh/ to all compute nodes scp .ssh/* ip_of_your_compute_node://var/lib/nova/.ssh/

for that setup a password for nova:

passwd nova
