devstack: Can't login into mysql, password from local.conf ignored?

Hi,

I installed OpenStack via devstack and I try to figure out why it is not working. So I am going through the installation manual for RHEL7 and noticed that I cannot log in to mysql. It seems that my local.conf values for the db password were ignored. What's a good way to see what devstack did do during installation? Is the password logged anywhere? I looked at the shell scripts and I saw that secret would be a default password or that the script would query the user for a password (but I cannot remember being queried, nor does "secret" work..)
