Why does openstack client send two POSTs to /auth/tokens

When I make any kind of openstack client command it always sends two POSTs to /v3/auth/tokens to keystone and gets two tokens. I confirmed this with --debug option and by sniffing the traffic:

openstack server list --debug

Making authentication request to http://keystone.pod1.com:5000/v3/auth/tokens "POST /v3/auth/tokens HTTP/1.1" 201 4237 ... Instantiating identity client: <class 'keystoneclient.v3.client.client'=""> ... Making authentication request to http://keystone.pod1.com:5000/v3/auth/tokens "POST /v3/auth/tokens HTTP/1.1" 201 4237

What is the reason for this?
