How to can ping a site on internet from compute?

if this is the configuration about networking on every compute node.... http://docs.openstack.org/icehouse/install-guide/install/yum/content/basics-neutron-networking-compute-node.html why in the section verify connectivity there are this ??

From the compute node, ping a site on the internet:

# ping -c 4 openstack.org

64 bytes from 174.143.194.225: icmp_seq=2 ttl=54 time=17.5 ms

The compute node have access only on the local network and on the tunnel network....
