### Adding compute node to existing packstack installation

I have a network like this :

168.101.55.8 external net eth0 --- **Controller Node**
| eth1
10.100.100.1
|
**switch** --- 10.100.100.3 eth1 **Intended Compute Node**

I already have an existing installation using packstack that works and can launch instances. It itself it acting as a compute resource.

I saw the instructions here to add additional compute nodes : https://www.rdoproject.org/install/adding-a-compute-node/

Are these instructions intended to be run on the Controller Node? Or the Compute Node? It looks like they are for the Controller Node, but I find it hard to believe that the compute node can join the controller node automatically just like this.

What do I have to do on the Compute Node? Do I have to do the openstack installation?

Please bear with me, I am totally new to OpenStack..
