openstack image create fails with broken pipe

New installation of Ocata, deployed with openstack-ansible. Just testing out basic functionality: user commands seem to work, assigning roles seem to work. However, when trying to create my first image, I consistently get a "Broken pipe" error. I have not found any information in the logs of the three glance containers. From within the "utility" container, having sourced the /root/openrc file, the command issued is:

openstack image create --public --debug --disk-format qcow2 --container-format bare --file [the file] cirros

And the response is: http://pastebin.com/b8PGZWR1

/var/lib/glance/images is NFS mounted, and I've confirmed that: a] it's mounted; and b] root and glance users have permissions to create files.
