Closed connection port 6379

Greetings to all the OpenStack gurus out there,

Let me start by saying that I am a complete newbie to OpenStack. I was handed a proof of concept machine that was already setup, I assume, and told to play with it.

Let me state what I know about the machine: It's a single VM on our corporate "cloud" running CentOS 7, it's running most (I'll elaborate on this further shortly) of the services for OpenStack, and when I try to create an instance in Nova I get a error of internal error: client socket closed and I cannot delete any of the drives from Cinder because I "don't have permission" as root. After wading through the log files, I found one that said a connection was refused on port 6379. After some consultation time with Google, I found that is the Redis port. I have verified that Redis is installed on the machine, but is not running. I didn't set up the OpenStack install so I'm not sure where Redis would go, or where even to look.

I'm at a loss of where to go at the moment. I'm beginning to wonder if it would even work on this VM due to all of the services that OpenStack seems to require.

Thank you in advance for any and all help!

Jeremy
