cant allocate floating / fixed ip

asked 2016-11-23 14:24:09 -0500

if i reserve an ip address or create a port, I cannot associate that port to any instance, anywhere.

Where do these services occur and what should i be checking to troubleshoot this functionality.

if i launch an instance and let it allocate an ip address, this works without issue. If i create a port or allocate a floating ip to the project, it is successful. when i try to allocate the created port or floating address, fails....

How do you allocate the created port or floating address, and what exactly is the error message?

some sort of 404 not found for the port. returns an unexpected API error with which I have opened a bug for nova. to cover all the basis of good research I am looking to troubleshoot this more than just watching the debug logs.... https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bug/...

Regarding your last question on the launchpad page: Just run the command with --debug. E.g. when I do openstack --debug server list, I see REQ: curl -g -i -X GET http://192.168.1.201:8774/v2.1/servers/detail in the output - clearly v2.1.

You can also check Neutron logs. Nova gets port details from Neutron, and it updates the port's host ID when attaching it to a new instance. When debug logging is enabled, you should see all the calls to Neutron in the neutron server log and the nova conductor and compute logs.
